Im not even sure. I'm older than this site since this site bought an older site I was a member of (bullspodcast I think it was called, CRYS would know).

I used to be on bulletin boards...must have been something like that.
Bullspodcasters.com :)

I too originated from there. Annoyed that only a few of my friends would talk basketball with me, I took to the interwebz to satisfy my Bulls talk cravings. I was listening to the podcasts of those who started that site (RIP Bullsbeat, Running with the Bulls) at the time and when they started a forum it was only natural that I signed up so I could actually converse with those who I was listening to every other day. The Bullseye podcast is still going to this day actually.

CBMB in 2006. Rex was doing great. The Rex-Orton wars were fun

CBMB for me too, I don't even remember how long ago...but it was way before they changed the forum software. You could tell everyone who was there before the switchover b/c there were a bunch of posters that had their join date as 9-01-2006 (I think that was the date anyways, it was a long time ago).

Also, I don't remember those wars being "fun". It was like literally 80% of all posts. For years.

Do newsgroups count? Think reddit, but better/faster/integrated.

Hardware and warez BBSes in the 80s. Then joined/started a few car club forums, some engineering groups, lots of sports sites, fitness sites. Video game sites. I literally have archived sites and full databases to close to 400 different message boards, including BBS and ezboards, and not a single one with less than 2000 active non-spam members at any given moment. At some point you go, WTF do I do with these? Once in a while old partners email me to start some of the old ones back up and restore old data. Trust me when I say this, when a site transfers/dies/moves and is gone for more than 5 years, nobody comes back when you start back up. Maybe two people show up. So when you have a forum going, keep it up, or it's gone forever. Internet archiving dynamic sites is trash.

I almost got caught up in some legal shit with warez IRC channels way early.

Also I had a giant printed book of BBS's in the early 80's. Which was awesome until I racked up like $200 on our phone bill and then got shut down by my parents.

Regardless, how are you doing post accident stuff?

Forums are a dying medium, unfortunately.

Gen Z's and social media are driving them right into a grave.

Forums ARE social media. Often hyper specific, and also have a "real" social component. Many of the people here I've been talking to for over a decade.

It will come back around. At least I think it will. Still waiting to see if media consumption trends cycle like fashion.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world that doesn't give 2 shits about Twitter..
I pay attention to it, purely for professional reasons. But I abhor it. The noise floor is extremely high, and the engagement sucks ass.

The noise... It doesn't help that it's about 80% emojis and 15% memes, but I'm probably just becoming bitter as I age. I just don't understand it anymore I guess.

Cbs cubs site. They decided to shut the forums. Moved over brewerscubs. That was like 5 posters. Told about this place by some crazy trolls. Checked it out. Found some awesome psychos here. Kept hanging around. Became mod and then became God King!

I think I literally said that

No, you said it figuratively.

If you said it literally, we literally wouldn't be having this conversation.
