I think we're a good team with obvious holes. Hopefully Bowman fills those by the trade deadline.

In my opinion, if we want to win the Cup, we've got to do a few things:

1) Figure out what is wrong with our power play. If the first group doesn't score we're generally screwed. I don't like the whole 2-2-1 cross ice passing thing where we're trying to set up Sharp or Toews for a ***** of an angle shot. I'd rather see some net presence and a rifle from out front that leads to rebounds. Of course that works a lot better when you've got a Ladd or a Byflugien in front of the pipes, but Hoss and Toews and Carcillo should be able to get that job done also.

2) We have to do something about shifting Keith and Seabs into an early grave. Leddy is a future Norris winner, and Hjalmarsson is solid, but I don't think Montador is living up to his billing and Lepisto is okay but not spectacular. We really need the 5, 6, and 7 guys to step up their play. Keith getting his shit together night in and night out would be nice too...

3) We've got to pick a story and stick with it on the lines. I get SO SICK of Q shuffling the lines all the time I could puke. Guys need to learn one another and get a feel for the guy with whom they're playing.

4) We need the B-team type guys to step up. Toews, Kane, and Hossa are going to be Toews, Kane, and Hossa, but we need to see some scoring from Brunette, Bickell, Davey B, et al.

5) We need someone to come up from Rockford and be a player. We always seem to have a young guy who comes up and rocks, and we need Beach or Morin or Smith or Kruger to not just come up and take some shifts on the 4 line or in the last defensive pairing, we need one of them to come up and seriously contribute.

6) We REALLY need a second line center. We shoulda taken Plekanec or signed Prospal when we could have had him for a pinch of monkey shit. I'm still pissed about that.

Of course, basically what I've said can be said for just about any team in the league.

No, we don't need a 2nd line Center. We need a first line Left Wing so Stalberg can go back down to the 3rd or 4th line.

True that but I still think we could use a 2nd line center so we can play Sharp on a wing.

I'd like the top 3 to be

Kane - Toews - Smith
Hossa - Stud pickup - Sharp
Bickell - Bolland - Frolik/Stalberg depending on who has their shit together at the time.

Stick Brunette on the 4. He's sucking hind tit.

and I'm not sure on Ben Smith, but we could damned sure use his scoring punch on a wing on one of the lower lines if they don't stick him up with Toews on the 1.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Pirri can do centering a line in the bigs either...

wrong...a PERFECT 2nd line center would be great so that kane (although he has been great at center) could go back on toews wing side

who would he replace?

injuries will eventually happen and then he will be back

If Beach is on this team I wont watch. Everyone complains about Carcillo taking dumb penalties, well Beach is 10 times worse. Then when that stupid penalty comes, there is usually a misconduct to follow. The only player in Rockford that would be able to come up and make a top 6 impact would be Smith. Pirri could possibly do it, but Smith would be better.

Is Beach acting like a tard still in Rockford? I saw he had a few goals and a few assists and I assumed he'd somewhat gotten his act together... does he still have roid rage or whatever the hell he caught last year?

But was Plekanec ever actually available? I know the usual blog rumour mongers chucked that name out there -but I doubt it was real - plus he had a decent sized cap hit then (something like $4 mil or so wasn't it?). Anyways I suppose the point being that seemed to be Blog bait for guys trying to drive bs traffic to their bloggings (and yeah the usual guy that does that- I think I remember - doing that).

Prospal I think also plays wing (versatility -being another plus). Ok, so I think he is old, like 'Fossil". So what, it isn't like you are going to have him pose for a sculptor for another one outside the stadium.

I didn't quote it- but imo, if the right deal comes along and there is money for it- no reason to wait until the trading deadline if it helps the team. I am not necessarily talking about rostered players going back -but whatever works, and helps out.

___

And finally a grammatical note - I try to make an effort to spell things the way they are spelled here, but sometimes I slip up and spell them using American standard English. . . (or slip up and transpose letters or miss keys- but that's a different deal altogether.).

We could've signed Prospal instead of a guy who skates like one of my aunt's.

Could we have? Was Prospal interested in Chicago? Do you realize how many free agents Chicago probably talked to that just didn't work out?

scott is a defenseman

olesz makes too much money

try again

Scott plays offense too... and he's benched more often than not besides recently anyway.

Sending Olesz down would save cap space too.

I thought we have been better than I expected to this point and this glitch to me is going to be part of this team for a short bit. I think this team will get better as the season goes on and by the end of the season they should be a runaway freight train running over everyone JMHO

where's your Hockey intelligence?

It's invisible.

IDK, I thought Scott was still an offender and that sending Olesz down would actually save cap space (because we kept sending Leddy down and calling him back up last year to stay under?).

I believe that only works on a two way deal. If the player is on a one way deal the salary is the same but the team still has to pay it. If we send down olesz plus I think Huet is still under contract that's 8 mil out of Rockies money for two guys not on the roster.
