You haven't torn shit to shreds. You agreed with a KMart to Walmart comparison then bought into more speculation.

You're continuing the same string of Special person postings that you've had since you've been here.

You "shred tearing" argument is Adidas isn't Nike.

Awesome.

Neither is Nintendo.

Who cares. You have no "proof" that Adidas wouldn't care based on any relative market comparison. Nike is another shoe company. They don't care. The best comparison you have is Kmart/Walmart and the fact that you can't even say for sure that Adidas can't care?

:smh:

You keep trying and you keep failing.

Yeah. Who cares about money? Wealthy people already have that. It's not like they are greedy or power-mongering or anything of the sort.

That's the point of why Howard going to Chicago would be a massivley great idea.

Chicago is a bigger and better market for a star player...especially one where Rose doesn't do a ton of local or regional deals. Plus the Bulls have a far far superior national and international market than the Mavs.

I think the only Mvas shirts known outside of the US are the one sin Africa from when they lost to the HEat in the Finals and some charity shipped them there.

International and national $$$$ + Chicago market $$$>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dallas market money.

A greedy person would WANT HOWARD IN CHICAGO!

That's a good point. However, in my gut, I still feel as though Adidas and the people making money off of Howard (and perhaps even Howard himself) would rather see him go to an uncovered NBA base (i.e. Brooklyn/NY or Dallas [may have appeal to small markets, as well]).

In my mind, there seems as though there would be more of a high-risk high-reward with Rose and Howard teaming up in an already covered NBA base. Yes, like you said, China highly values winning and the payoff could be huge if a championship(s) occurred. However, the risk comes in the fact that no championship may come at all. And, even if they did, it might take a long time to see big pay-off from that.

The point is that it's flawed to be at one end of the spectrum considering there are arguments that can be made for Adidas being for Howard going to Chicago and vice versa.

The article by Yahoo went down this avenue that you're addressing. It could be right but it's not safe to assume that Adidas follows this same reasoning. And even if there was no China involved in this. The Chicago Bulls are still a global brand stemming from the Jordan era. Having two players with the Bulls, assuming the Bulls are contenders, could also amplify their appeal since there would be, sort of, a co-branding element to this. In other words, the Bulls have a brand that extends beyond the city of Chicago. There are still a lot of Bulls fans even outside of this country who are Bulls fans because of the Jordan era. So, that also could enhance Howards branding.

And even if some analysis correctly identifies what is the best route for Adidas to take, that doesn't mean they'll take the correct route. Again, we simply don't know the biases of Adidas. It's hard to know how they weigh certain factors.

To be honest, I think your thinking is a little outdated. As I've stated, this business aspect we're discussing goes beyond Chicago. It's very possible that the yahoo article was identifying that Howard has his own preferences and was contriving/engineering some economic reasoning for what might be driving this. It could be correct, but it's hardly safe to assume.

Yeah, and if that were the extent of my reasoning, it would be enough to shoot your take out of the sky. Better yet, your take never really even got off the runway.

But go ahead and keep trying to get your plane in the air. It's fun watching.

Howard is black. With no degree. He shouldn't be engineering any economic plans.

At first I thought that the whole sneaker conspiracy was stupid but read this it kind of makes sense... He is already going to lose money leaving Orlando because there is no state income tax...

As Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose prepared Sunday to open the season against the Los Angeles Lakers, his mind was focused on the present, but he did entertain a question about the future. And his answer to whether he'd like to emulate Kobe Bryant by playing his entire career in one city should sit well with Bulls fans. "I would love to," he said. As preposterous as it sounds, Rose -- the 23-year-old MVP from Chicago's Englewood neighborhood -- didn't want to be presumptuous and said he would stay unless the Bulls traded him. "It's all up to them," he said. "I would love to be here, be a Bull for the rest of my life, but it's really not up to me. ESPN.com

Adidas has two franchise endorsers: Derrick Rose and Howard. Rose signed a $94 million extension with the Bulls, and sources say Adidas is working on a lifetime shoe deal for him now. And as one high-ranking sneaker executive says, “Adidas simply cannot have its two signature players on the same team in the same market. … Derrick is the face of that market, owns that market, and Adidas can’t possibly have maximum bang for its buck with Dwight there. “It serves Adidas no purpose. They need them as rivals in competing markets.” Yahoo! Sports

Howard knows this, too. He has an Adidas renewal on deck in the next year, and Los Angeles and Brooklyn guarantee him maximum money. The shoes aren’t the sole season, but it’s a reality. In an NBA where the owners want the superstars worth $50 million and more to make far less than market value, it’s hard to imagine you’ll get them to take far less on endorsements. And as had been the case with LeBron James’ free agency, Rose will never go out of his way to convince Howard this is a trade that he ought to push. “Derrick is too loyal to the guys he plays with to get involved with doing that,” a source close to Rose said. “It wasn’t his nature [to recruit] with LeBron, and it still isn’t now.” For the record, Adidas’ vice president for global basketball, Lawrence Norman, says: “As a partner, we’re completely supportive of Dwight with whatever decision he makes. He’s an outstanding partner with broad appeal to fans across the world.” Yahoo! Sports

Norman is telling the truth: Adidas will still pay Howard well wherever he winds up, but Orlando and Chicago won’t get him paid and marketed the way Los Angeles and Brooklyn will. Rose could become the highest-paid shoe endorser in the NBA with his next Adidas contract, sources said, and remember: Shoe companies don’t market teams. They market individuals. That’s true of the NBA, too. That’s why Howard will end up with the Lakers or the Nets – Los Angeles or New York. Everything could change with Howard in Chicago, because everything changes with the league’s best center and best point guard on the floor together. Nevertheless, this NBA season starts with Howard in Orlando, and so much of the sport’s balance of power will be dictated by where he ends it. Yahoo! Sports

he Magic are talking to more teams than the ones on Dwight Howard's wish list.

They will listen to anybody who is willing to take a risk and give up a few good men for Howard if he can lead them to the NBA Finals as a temp.

It's another reason why they will wait until the March 15 deadline to make a deal for Howard, after he's played 44 games in Orlando. His new team would land him for 22 games, plus the postseason.

I believe I said this earlier, but shoe companies do not control where players go. It's the agent. Always has & always will be. And yes, agents do take this stuff into consideration but it is not the deciding factor in any trade or contract signing.

Either way this was 5 pages of wasted back & forth about a player who will never be donning a Bulls uni.

Dwight Howard would be a great pick up for the Bulls, but at the same time, it would cost the Bulls waaaaay too much. It would basically cost us our entire starting front court. That would set us back quite a bit IMO.

Dont fix what aint broken

It's not like Boozer or Noah play in the 4th quarter anyways.

If the Bulls got back Howard for Noah and Boozer, Bulls fans should expect a championship sooner rather than later.

Why the hell would that be giving up too much?

Orlando would probably demand Noah, Boozer and Deng. Way too much to give up. I'm all for moving Boozer, for an upgrade at PF, but not at the cost of both Deng and Noah as well.

I would in a heartbeat. The bright side to that is all the cap space they clear up so they can add pieces plus you still have Taj and Omer. If Deng goes then Brewer starts at the 3.
