NJ's offer was probably better. I doubt Houstons was better though.

HOU's offer was better than NJ's offer. They were offering more/better first round picks, they offered all 3 first rounders that they drafted this year and would have given up couple other players for Dwight and didn't even care if he signed an extension. In late June, it was reported that the Rockets will give up w/e it takes to get Dwight even if it means not having him commit.

ORL should have jumped on that. This deal is just bad. Harrington is on the wrong side of 30 and is just a role player at this point, Vucevic is just a project and could be nothing, could be average and Afflalo is what he is. a good defender/spot up shooter. Can't really create his own shot or handle the ball. He's like a version of Luol Deng, but a better shooter.. no more than a good role player on a championship roster... and 3 protected first rounders? Those are useless. The magic would have been better off letting Howard walk. At least then they wouldn't have benb left with Harrington's and afflalo's contracts [combined 50+ million over the length of their contracts].

Just don't get why ORL would do this when they had better offers in the past, and could have had better offers in the future.

NBA is a rigged game? I mean its seriously stuff like this when we see the Lakers constantly be able to restock constantly ripping off other teams in which makes me wonder.

Disagree.

Orlando had no choice but to move Dwight now. After they turned down offers to HOU and NJ, which IMO weren't much better then what they received from this deal, Howard told them where he stands. Trade me now to LA, trade me mid season to NJ or I walk. They had ZERO leverage. They took the deal here that they had because they had too. They wanted something in return for Dwight, not just letting him walk.

I agree the deal is a tad bit one-sided, but hey it happened. Howards constant annoyance caused this.

i don't think it's rigged, but it's just fascinating to me how the Lakers always seem to make these kinds of moves. It's like teams feel like the NEED to help the Lakers.

I have to be honest though... I'm more mad then I should be for 2 reasons. 1, I'm a huge fan of the NBA and moves like this irk me. I like seeing new teams compete for the title if the Bulls aren't going to win it... I'm just sick of seeing the Lakers there. 2, I don't like the Lakers haha.

The NBA is rigged, maybe not completely but in the playoffs, the refs lean more towards a specific team because the comish wants what's good for buisiness which means having a certain team win. btw LOVE this trade for my Sixers

no choice but to move him now? The trade deadline is in 6 months, dude. What's the hurry?

You said right there in your last post. "Trade me now, MID-SEASON or I'll walk." so they didn't NEED to trade him NOW, because they had a choice. And you said you thought the NJ deal was probably better. So why not wait until mid-season and trade him then if that deal was better? Why the hurry now?

And again, they could have traded him to HOU. Just because Howard didn't wanna go there doesn't mean they couldn't deal him there. HOU didn't care if Dwight signed an extension. ORL doesn't owe dwight shit. He wants to leave.. why should they make sure he winds up happy?

Goodbye Miami Heat championships.

But also goodbye Chicago Bulls Championships any time soon either.
We all Loose.

:obama:

And what baffles my mind is how the hell the Lakers brass always manage to make steals in trades.

Howard is a diva and a whiny *****. Now I'm really glad he didn't go to the Olympics. He has no business representing this country and certainly no business winning a medal or a championship trophy. So much ego in pro sports and it gets worse every year thinking they're owed something on top of the fucking ridiculous amount of money they already earn. **** them.

I wonder what team Rose will choose to go to when his contract is up unless he demands to be traded in a few years when he realizes winning a championship in Chicago is a longshot next to none, especially with a standpat management and ownership that gets nothing done and are unable to onvince any kind of star worth getting to come here.

I HATE YOU PAXGARDORF!!!!!!!!!!

They think they have 5 superstars already: Rose, Noah, Deng, Boozer and Hamilton.

How the heck do the Lakers keep stealing players like this? They got Gasol for pretty much nothing except his brother (who no one thought would be good at the time) and now they pretty much traded Bynum for Howard straight up while keeping Pau. What...the...eff.

How high is the Magic GM? That return is TERRIBLE. Heck, they could've gotten a better deal from us. :lmao:

Good deal for the 76ers imo though. They were lacking a big man badly and now they have the 2nd best C in the league.

I figure it'll be either Wilson Chandler or Iggy at the 2 for the Nuggets. Crazy athletic backcourt with those guys and Lawson. Fastbreaks for them will be fun to watch.

At least as of now, on paper, it appears the Heat aren't guaranteed a championship now. The Thunder should still be good to though. They should have a chip on their shoulders this season. But the Lakers will be legit. With Kobe, and a real point guard ( which they haven't had probably since Magic) and Pau and Superman they should easily contend. It's going to be one of those 3 though.

I guess you could say Brooklyn or SAS are dark horses, but yeah it'll pretty much be one of those teams.

Might be time to start picking a secondary teams to be rooting for now. We know the Bulls are gonna be crap for at least the next 2 years.

Yeah, I thought about the Spurs too. But they are old. But they are "old" every year and yet somehow still be a damn good team. So the Spurs can count. And I am not sold on the Nets yet. They should be a playoff team in the weak East but that's probably about it.

[h=6]If David Stern allows the Lakers to get Dwight Howard, I'm done with the NBA. No parity at all when you allow super teams to be built. The CBA was supposed to help? Who are you trying to fool, comrade?[/h]

This made me chuckle. Mostly because small market owners were hoping the new CBA would help them when in fact it screwed them over even more.

Old CBA:

Big-market owners with a lot of money went deep into the luxury tax freely and regularly because the penalty they had to pay wasn't too harsh. Since they made a lot more money than SM owners, they could go 20+ million over the luxury without a care.

SM owners went over the LT occasionally when they felt like the player was worth it... but did it carefully because a lot of those teams were losing money and didn't want to spend even more money on taxes that they didn't NEED to pay.

So, the SM owners want a CBA that would level the playing field so that the BM owners don't have the money advantage.

new CBA:

The penalty for going over the luxury tax is much steeper, especially if you're a repeat offender. BM owners? No fucks given. They'll spend w/e the **** they want just like in the old CBA.

SM owners? S.O.L. You thought going over the old LT was bad? Try going over this one. Oh wait.. you won't try.. meaning you'll be guaranteed of staying under the LT while the same BM owners are still spending big and getting w/e players they want.

Pity the Bulls act like the smallest market out there. Most profitable team in sports...refuse to spend like a big market anyway.

If you're an owner and you can make loads of $$$ and not win, you're a good business man or your fans are stupid. Maybe it's both, but I'm really sick of Chicago teams not competing like a big market team. Really tired of it.

Don't think the East will be that weak. Still got New York, Boston, Indiana, Philly (especially now that they have Bynum...assuming health of course), and us sorta. That's 5 pretty good teams right there. Milwaukee is bound to be decent having Monta for a full year. Cavs are getting better. Not like the East is total garbage. Granted, West is still the stronger conference, but it's not like the mid 2000s where you could be under .500 and be a playoff team in the 5th or 6th spot.

I'm not a baseball follower... can someone answer me this. MLB has no salary cap, right? How much does Reinsdorf spend on the White Sox each year?

Not sure, but probably more than he does for this team. I bet Bulls tickets are more expensive though. :shifty:
