Ridiculous! Not athletic? LOL! Not explosive? LOL!

The one thing that Shea is.... is athletic. That certainly is not his problem. His combine numbers were as good as the best LB's in the NFL. Even Urlacher said he was an athletic beast. Rub a dub dub Hub. Sheesh......

Hows that latent homosexuality treating you?

Is this seriously your fucking attempt at an argument. Jesus Christ on a cracker. Ask yourself this, at any point has Shea looked like the most athletic and Most explosive LB on the football field? It's a resounding No and that's not hate.

Some people are able to perform in Shorts and a Tee or even in the Gym but it doesn't always translate to the football Field.
It's called the underwear Olympics for reason because prospects get to train months for specific drills and improve on their times.

At 4.6 that would indate a player with sideline to sideline speed. Funny we see nothing of the sort on Sundays. Or an explosive burst while filling a gap or closing on a ball Carrier.... Again not so much. Keep hanging your hat on those numbers though. its rather comically cute.

Liking Shea McClellin or liking Jay Cutler gets you nothing but called names here. Forget the fact that as soon as he went out KC ran right at his spot and marched right down the field. Don't let facts get in the way of your hate.

Funny, I specifically remember his back up coming in and filling his gap crushing the RB for a TFL.

There's nothing to like about him as a player. He's just a guy in a sea of other guys who don't standout.

Go watch any of Fangio's Mike/jack combo's over the years. They stood out often because they had the necessary instincts and worked in unison scraping & filling. Fangio knows real LB talent and I'll take a not so wild guess and say he's no longer on the team next year. It's not a hate vs like thing. It's more of a get good or gtfo thing.

Hell, Borland who was undersized and drafted much later was 3 times the football player Shea is. He Dominated under Fangio because he had those great instincts. That is above all the best trait a LB can posses. It even makes up for physical limitations. Shea doesn't suck, he's just not good.

Thats not true. Nobody cares who you like. But if you insist that either are good (ie well above average) you are gon get a lot of people that disagree. Thats not hate.

That happened in a different series. So one good play and a scrub picked up of a waiver wire from the freaking Jags should be our starting ILB. Pass me that damned koolaid your drinking. Do you really believe that if Fangio thought there were better ILB out there somewhere that we wouldn't sign him and dump Shea? Shea is the best we have at that position and he continues to improve each week. Anyone who says different is just a hater.

"He is not a good inside LB, he is not athletic and not explosive. He is smart and can line people up...."

Now, I definitely share his view, but have been told I am biased and just hoping he fails, which actually isn't the case at all, but whatever.

This is my question to those who follow this team very closely:

If Shea is gone for an extended period, and I hope this ISN'T the case, does he just step back into his starting role if others are playing somewhat decently with higher athletic ceilings or can he be unseated with decent play?

I am honestly curious.

I actually think Shea has performed better than my expectations this yr and he definitely isn't a dumpster fire in any way.
Randy Gradishar was not explosive, nor athletic. Just really smart. And in all reality, while he is not in the HOF, he should be.

Ok, and what does that have to do with the 2015 NFL exactly again?

Shea is nothing special, this is not news.

But the defense is playing well with him in there, even if it is not pretty.

Neither he nor Jones have impressed me.

What it means, is that it is not the end all be all. It helps, sure it is a hell f an advantage. But it does not mean that Shea has zero chance of being a good linebacker.

Should have been obvious, but I'll dumb it down next time.

Shea has never played to his testing numbers.

Try and replace him, but right now he is probably the best ILB on the team. One hit on Kelce does not make up for Jones getting dominated in the run game.

Thetruthwillbedammed show where I said he should start..I'll wait right here for that and still be here next Christmas. Goldman also went out which affected the running lanes.

Why would the bears sign some one else when Shea is a cheap serviceable option in The last year of his deal? The upgrades will come this offseson after the new staff has a full evaluation on the hold overs from the last. Sorry if this bothers you in some weird way.

You're absolutely Right, Shea is the best we have right now which isn't saying much. I prefer not to toil in mediocrity and I'm positive Fox and Co feel the same.

I think it says something that the leader of the defense really made it clear post game that he was hoping and praying for Shazy to get back in a hurry.

Also combined with Fangio not being a dumbass and sticking with him and even saying he is getting better.

tOSU.... I get what your saying to a point. I think Shazy has shown he can play in this league. Will it be at a all pro level, most likely not. But I think he can start. If they can find someone to play next to him who can be an impact player..... I think his deficiencies are hidden a bit more.

But lining up next to Cheese every play, the both of them look a bit behind. I think Shazy is back next year, with his replacement not far behind or with a real impact MLB on his way.

actually his speed is very special for a guy his size

i agree, Hbk. he just doesn't make the best use of his speed, making poor or incorrect reads and taking bad angles. he also often overruns plays.

if he could just figure out and "see" the game, his speed would come into play and he'd start making impact plays. i think the dude moves with good fluidity, he just doesn't know where to go with it!

Hubs a Shayter. I've seen improvement from him. Just not that physical in the run game

Hillenmeyer was a great technician that lacked explosiveness. He was perfect at what he did in that Bear's defense. Has nothing to do with Shea

Shea has gone from an utter complete useless piece of shit to a piece of shit. So big improvement for him but still needs to go.

I like the AJ Hawk comparison.

I would like to see Shea and Jones competing for the spot next to a stud ILB from free agency of the draft.

Not a big fan of Shea's but at some point just have to forget about him being a disappointment as a 1st round pick. He's been solid thus far this year and the way it is now I think the Bears are better with him than without him.
