The bulls probably had a chance in 99 as well because of the lockout. The rest that he was harping on them not getting would've done them good, which would've delayed his rebuild in those crappy drafts and also helped him in the 00 fa class. The dude just had to make sure he got credit for the dynasty tho. It's like no one ever told him that the GM doesn't get the glory.

We all get Reinsdorf is a shit owner. Yes, we know egos got involved and Krause let the power get to his head. We know things ended messy, and we know for a LONG time, no good free agents would come to Chicago because Jordan and Pippen poisoned the waters.

But like it or not, Krause was as much a part of building 2 dynasties (or one mega dynasty depending how you look at it) as anyone else, and for any argument that anyone could have done it, Jordan didn't win titles in the 80s - it took a GM to put the right pieces around him.

His widow didn't deserve to hear that at the UC and he deserves his due for what was one of the few times it felt great to be a Chicago sports fans, despite his flaws.

Well given an 8th seed went to the Finals in 99 for the East, there is a solid shot they could make it, though depends if MJ is still fucking around with a cigar cutter or not if he's not retired. That Spurs team could actually do the aging Bulls in. Rodman was also a giant mess at this point as he played 23 games for the Lakers in his 99 before being let go due to his distractions. So could the Bulls manage him? They were already struggling with that in 98.

I don't see them being players in 2000 free agency no matter what. If the team with the contracts stays through then, they have no cap space. If they're slowly traded from 99 to that summer no one will want to come to a gutted team just like no one did in our reality.

After the 99 lockout, they're a luxury cap team with Jordan and Pippens salaries had they kept things together.

Just in recent Bulls history i would say the way Rose was treated after his injuries was worse. Honestly the booing for Krause wasn't even personal at this point but just something fans mindlessly did. It's unfortunate that his widow was there, but it's been a bit of an overreaction to this.
