He should be an OC at best. I hate watching football games where it just is over by second quarter and you know it.

It probably meant the world to him to get an NFL HC gig and he'll take his firing hard. He seems like a really nice man but damn, the guy just isn't head coaching material.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I really, really wanted Trestman to thrive here.

Yeah, I have the same feelings. Trestman seems like such a good guy, he just sucks as a coach

Since Cutler was and is the problem, why didn't Coach Genuis bench him?

LOL yeah "he" pissed it away... not the QB on the field directly responsible for all the turnovers... but the coach...lol un-fucking-real.
Yes, Trestman gave the ball to the opponent 25 times. There's still two more games left, he might hit 30.

you know you can think jay cutler sucks and still realize that trestman is a terrible head coach? it's not one or the other.

also...trestman must have signed off on re-signing cutler-there's no way emery re-signed cutler without trestman okaying it-so what does that say about his ability to evaluate his players? and nobody made trestman call such out of whack games. almost 200 more passes then runs. no attempt at balance whatsoever. he didn't have to run a pass heavy offense.

trestman is a failure on every level. emery is an bigger failure, and they both need to go, along with cutler.

Stop. This Bears team is a total disaster, and it falls largely on Trestman. Yes, Cutler needs to go too, but this hell hole is infinitely larger than just Jay.

I could almost feel the team quitting on Trestman during the Green Bay game. Every game since then has featured an utterly dispirited group of men posing as football players, playing lightyears away from their potential.

And that falls on the head coach.

You can tell he loves football, but so does the waterboy.

If you heard his post game pc last night, you can tell someone just chewed his ass. He looked and sounded defeated.

If you think Trestman is a competent head coach and his offensive scheme has been good, you're just as dumb as people who believe Jay is an elite quarterback. This team is an absolute disaster on every level. EVERY level. He hasn't had control of anybody on this team or any situation.

I feel as if he was set up for failure from the beginning. Emery saddled him with a worthless DC and a inept QB. I think Trest knew it was an uphill battle, but was simply willing to give it a shot since it was his only chance at a HC gig. No HC was going to succeed under those conditions, it was really out of his hands from the start. But now the only solution is to blow the whole things up, starting with the guy that created this mess... Emery.

Id say Phillips, but with as little chance there is of Emery being fired, theres even less a chance they let Phillips go.

I don't feel bad for him at all, he had no business getting a head coaching job and it's completely remarkable that he was hired in the first place. Trestman was not nor ever was going to be the right person for the Bears.

It wasn't a wild guess, it wasn't me just looking to be pissy because I didn't like that he was coming from the CFL, it was a simple matter of knowing what type of personality and coach he was during his time with the Arizona Cardinals. He is no different now than he was with the Arizona Cardinals when he was their offensive coordinator.

I also seriously doubt that any of the success he experienced with the Raiders if you want to call it that was of any of his own doing. Any time I heard this guy's name mentioned prior to his hiring of the Bears in any sort of football capacity I cringed. I've been dead set against Trestman ever coming near any players or teams I hold near and dear to my heart because of how he handled things in Arizona when he was in directly in charge of all aspects of their offense. There was no reason for Trestman to be an offensive coordinator and no reason for him to be a head coach. Perhaps he can go into business for himself in California or Texas as a QB developmental camp instructor. He seems like he would be the ideal guy to develop young kids who have college football aspirations to sort of be their QB instructor away from high school as a highly paid private tutor. Texas, Florida, or California would be ideal for him to open up a private QB tutoring business and let his NFL reputation speak for itself.

.

That's Jay's fault too because he checked out of the good run plays but didn't check out of the bad run plays.

Trestman = Dope.

It's hard to feel bad for a guy who's going to get paid millions of dollars to sit on his couch the next few years.

Hey, maybe he and Ricky Renteria can get together and commiserate over drinks?

I agree; he's a nice guy and nobody deserves the spectacular failure that's been this season. However, he's a millionaire so I don't feel too bad for him. There are ditch-diggers out there that work way harder, have a much less fulfilling job and are nice guys too.

The situation he walked into was "ideal" on paper (a QB with untapped potential in Cutler, a top 5 WR in Marshall, arguably the best pass catching RB in the league in Forte, a defense that produced takeaways consistently, a solid special teams unit, etc).

As I've mentioned plenty of times before, Emery set Trestman up for failure by alienating the veterans loyal to Urlacher, Lovie, and Marinelli. Only a coach that had the personality type to overcome the influence Lovie wielded would have been successful here. In other words, if the players didn't buy in to what he was selling, he should have rid them from the team.

On another note it sure is hilarious to see Dan Bernstein do a 180 and try and lead the "fire Trestman/Emery brigade" when he (and several people in sports media in this city) were parading the duo as "upgrades" before they even finished a full season together. He and several co-workers were "obsessed" with seeing Emery fire Lovie. The very first question Bernstein asked Emery when he was a guest on B&B (after he was hired in 2012) was "do you have the power to fire Lovie Smith?" Now they try and distance themselves from the current mess.

I feel like I learn something when I listen to Marc Trestman speak. I felt like I was wasting my time when I listened to Lovie Smith speak.

#Bears had a plus-5 or better turnover margin 3X in 150 games under Lovie Smith. They were plus-5 in Marc Trestman's third game. #Upgrade.
