That is all I will buy anymore. I have replaced enough bulbs in my life. I figure once more per fixture, and I am done.
Just installed two 48 led lights in my garage. It's amazing how bright it is.

Probably because they never see homeless people.... there are lots of them around the UC.... but I also see lots of them in the Loop....

I've never had any problems walking the 4 or 5 blocks to the UC.

East of the UC is very cleaned up now for the most part. West is the UC has gotten better, still some work to do. All in all the area isn't what it was 20 years ago anymore. But that's hard to convince some of my friends lol.

When I was in fourth grade, for my birthday my dad took me out to get a steak at some real nice place in the loop and then we cabbed it to the Stadium for a Hawks game. In the back of the cab looking out the window I saw my first homeless people, they were in doorways of abandoned buildings. I grew up in Des Plaines, so that shit freaked me out. The next day in school all anybody really wanted to hear about was the homeless people, Hawks game? Whatever, you can see that on TV but homeless, that was the shit. Oh yeah, back then they weren't homeless, they were bums if they were sad and hobos if they were happy.

3 feels like -12 in Chicago today

Me and my Dad are gonna walk to the UC for the Hawks game from the bar... it really isn't as horrid as people make it sound.

Enjoy the game with your dad. That is really nice.

I've actually had a couple of LED lamps blow--but that's because whomever wired up our apartments got their electrician certificate in a box of Cracker-Jacks. But I definitively agree--I love LEDs.

All of the light and very little heat. Paying for just light instead of paying for light and heat.

and, they are finally making ones that have that good soft white feel to them, not the CFL ultra white light.

I prefer the Daylight 5-6000k, but I agree. The power savings are great. Plus there are new ones where they have smart home integration at the bulb-level.

The smart home thing doesn't make much sense to me.

The rate at which technology is advancing does not jive to me. I have some family that are home builders and they are trying to find the right balance of that sort of stuff and it is hard with how quickly things become outdated. (Besides I don't like to think that my thermostat, fridge, TV, dishwasher, and washing machine are watching me.. freaks me out)

A piece of electrical tape is the best fix if you're worried about a camera watching you.

For the rest it's trying to make sure it's not a static piece of hardware; why wire up a can light recessed in the ceiling to respond to your voice when the bulb itself will, and you can take it with you when you move? Ditto on switches? Ditto on outlets when an outlet adapter works?

I just fine it nice that my wife can yell "lights on" when coming into a dark apartment with her hands full.

She will have to yell 'Alexia, lights on". And now people should stop naming their kids Alexia, could get confusing.

True, but I'm of the mindste that if someone was hacking my cell and spying on me, I'd give them something to look at woth all of the eye-bleach potential of Goatse.cx.

And for the love of everything that does not suck don't look that up!

Why didnt you put this in the DIY page??

Are they on a panel or a strip or what?

I bet that would work perfectly for a workshop kind of thing.

But the bonus? When the US won the World Juniors you can instantly bring up, "America! **** yeah!"

Winter is pretty much the worst. I hate snow, hate wet, hate cold, hate stormy skies. I just hate.
