First off, that's a pretty huge contrail. That would have to be a damn big plane. I can't say I've ever seen a contrail that large before. That also doesn't look like any jet contrail I've ever seen before... That appears to be a single, large plume of smoke to me. It's also a very thick plume. Aren't most contrails double plumes, and don't they dissipate pretty quickly? Second, if it was a plane, wouldn't they be able to tell us exactly what plane it was? All flights are tracked on radar and need clearance to take off, right? Wouldn't the airport it took off from know about it too, if it was in fact a plane? Especially a plane that large?
My theory? The government was testing some new missile, probably fired from a ship or sub, and are fully aware of what that is and where it came from. Seems like the most likely explanation given everything we've heard about it thus far. If it was really a missile of unknown origin, fired that close to our shore, I imagine our military would have been put on high alert. Something like that would probably also increase our DEFCON level as well, would it not?
Where the **** did it go? Did it just disappear, or what?
