As most of you know its hard for me to find consistent work.. its been really hard for a few years.

I've been dating my gf since Feb 2009..

Lately she's gotten irritated that I haven't had anything offered.. We've both talked of having a more "adult" relationship but the lack of work for me is in the way of that.

She said yesterday that she would stay with me but also won't wait forever if nothing comes..

Now after saying that she has been sick and tired for about a week..

I've talked to a few people that know "womanly instincts" and they almost all resoundingly think she means it but its more of an act right now..

What do you guys think?

Women desire stability. By you not having a job, its obvious her patience is running thin. Its quite understandable when you look at it from her perspective. She clearly stated she would like the relationship to go further, therefore she is serious. But no woman wants a man that cant support her. Not saying a guy must have a triple digit income, but gotta be able to hold their own. It reflects on the whole responsibility image. If your serious about her, you may have to settle for anything at this time bro.

Oh I completely agree that I need something at this point.. I went on a fast food blitz yesterday since I haven't gone too crazy with those but I'm willing to do what it takes.

The point is, if your proving that you are willing to find work, it goes a long way. Now if you stayed flipping burgers... lol. But there is no 'semi' seriousness to an ultimatium. Granted there is the 'shock' effect that shes using, but there is no doubt there a harsh truthfulness to it. But you of all people will know and recognize her personality, far better than myself. Therefore for a timeframe in which shes expecting results varies. Damn character limitations, part 2 in a minute..

Part 2. However, as long as you continue to talk to her and express yourself properly, than any doubts she has can be avoided. Or at the least subdued. But depending on her personality, again, the time you got to prove yourself will vary. Hmm, whens her B-Day and age? You dont have to say if you want tho, but I can give a better assessment if I knew.

Shes basically giving me about a year or so.. but hopefully I can take something within a week or two if offered.

Thanks for the input Jysen.. You sound pretty much spot on.

Thats good. At least shes not over impatient and quite logically sound to not expect results at the snap of a finger. Good quality if u ask me lol. But I hope you do find something suitable in this crappy economy man. Exhaustion and stress has that shitty ability to express what one holds back in a blunt manner lol. Tho for me, I love getting that kind of info, just as long as I avoid getting kicked to the couch in the process lol

Good luck on finding a job. I don't like my job anymore, but I won't quit. I'm looking for new job and intership right now.

Tell her that you don't like it, when she faults you for things you have no control over. Turn it back on to her, make her feel guilty for ripping on your situation, and let the dust settle. Done.

It doesnt hurt having an insider at times. In some cases, its the only way. A prime example is like Ford. Many times you find that the son gets a job thanks to his dad working there, and his dads dad got him the job. Many places rather take employees references vs someone off the street, especially when the employee has a good reputation there.

I don't wanna give up any power (we've kept it pretty even through this point)

I don't wanna be single either.. Truthfully shes right, like I said before..

Now on the jobs front.. Don't really ever bother with online applications.. those are a total waste of time.. I found this out the hard way (and why this is an issue right now)

I filled out apps as a walk in for Culvers, family video, portillos and giordanos...

Culvers and family video I have an interview set up for.. Portillos and giordanos im going to be called by monday..

So word to the wise for anyone else struggling don't bother with online apps.. Just go to places that physically have applications that you can fill out.. then go back the next day and talk to them odds are you'll get looked at.

I wish I knew online apps were a waste of time before this point.. Ive ran myself into the ground the last few days trying to keep this going.

Wish I could help you out, but I've been unable to find a full-time job for a long time...Agree online apps suck...I kinda feel like I'm just waiting around for a referral...need to meet some new people at party's or something that have connections.

Yeah.. Ive only gotten like one real interview with a online process.. and that was sending my resume to the Cubs for the Wrigley Ambassador..

So anything beyond that its been BS and more BS.
