I predict Starlin Castro goes on a tear once the trade deadline passes!

This sucks to see him being benched this long and might be relegated to a bench role for now. As a fan of Castro, I am biased, though and still don't want him traded.

I get it, Starlin Castro makes errors. He has never been appreciated for the great plays he makes, though. He seems to cover A LOT of ground out there and get to a lot of balls that probably only a few if any shortstops can get to. He showed it again tonight.

I've seen people mention that he's good with the fly balls but he makes some nice dive plays out there as well.

Please no one accuse me of saying he is a gold glove winner, I'm just saying he isn't as bad as people say and he is extremely under appreciated. I hope him playing second base will help him out.

Also, every player on the team has slumped at one point this season, even Anthony Rizzo slumped for a week or two around the all star break. Only Rizzo, Jorge Soler and Kyle Schwarber are batting over .250 now and I don't think guys like Addison Russell or Chris Coghlan have been over .250 at all this season.

Chris has three or four dozen times this season.

Chris has had bad luck with his luck. .272 BABIP. His line drive % is near Rizzo's. His have been at people more.

The only knock I see with Chris at 2B is his range. He doesn't make that pop up grab that Castro does. But I really like the idea of a late inning D upgrade at 2B. Castro is not hitting enough to justify him starting right now. But Chris's limited range at 2B hurts the team late inning trying to protect leads.

Seeing how 2B is a easier position to defend than SS I can see Castro becoming a very strong 2B from a D perspective. O wise it is too late for him this year. He needs to really look at it this off season and better prepare for what next season brings. With the Cubs or elsewhere.

I still think they should test him in CF. Seeing how far he went on that pop up, not to mention his quickness to the ball, really makes me think that he would excel as a CF. As long as he has the proper instruction. Dave Martinez as a bench coach would be an ideal teacher for him.

You know, I was against moving Castro to the OF at first but with the overflow at middle infield right now...it's probably a good move. I mean they have like five or six guys in the mix now at short and second with La Stella and Baez.

It's the mental stuff that holds Castro back. His base running errors, blowing bubbles on the way to 1st, the errors on routine plays, etc. No championship team will have a player that does this stuff in the starting lineup.

It doesn't matter what good stuff he does, he will always be a mental midget. This is why I always disliked him. The Cubs will be better using him as an occasional pinch hitter hoping for a big hit. I would have traded him early in the year when we could have gotten something for him.

The irony in this post is pretty epic.

Only according to you. Pardon me if I just don't want take your posts as gospel. You're too busy trying to correct my posts, and show everyone 'how much you know about baseball', you don't realize I actually know wtf I'm talking about. I don't care if you think I'm emotional, or any other thing you want to cling on to, you still are a 'know it all wannabe' in my book.

I sometimes think some athletes intentionally tank to make themselves less attractive in trade talks once rumors become strong. It wouldn't surprise me at all if all of a sudden Castro finds his stroke.

Lol

Players that tank to make themselves less attractive are LOSERS.

You're such a clown. What in this is "I told you so" worthy? You talking smack on Castro is a function of you being a White Trash/Sox troll. So e of us can legitimately talk...but you're not one of us.

Wrong thread for a flame war.

This should be what your inner voice is telling you before you post here.

As for him confronting a troll (ie you), it was hardly inappropriate.
