So he's not a good DC?

I don't care how good of a DC he is. I have ZERO interest in another "defensive minded" HC and going back to the stone age relying on the defense and special teams to score and win games while the offense just burns time.

If you want to bring in a DC fine, let him take over for Tucker as the new DC and fix the defense.

Not sure if serious?

I'm most certainly serious. I believe that the quickest cure to the ills of the Bears is to get Trestman a good QB. Meatballs hate marc, but that is just because they are predjudiced against anyone with superior intellect.

Every coach has forgotten more about the game than any of us know. But Trestman's repeated refusal to establish even a modicum of a run game, and absurd usage of the screen game is very very concerning...

He has no head coaching experience of any degree and no experience really being a coach outside of New England anyway. Plus he is still a very young guy; this is not a man with good qualifications to think he can be a successful NFL HC at this point.

Meatball Myth: Waaah Trestman refuses to run the ball!! Waaaah!!!

Facts: 22.4 rushes per game in 2014. 25.2 rushes per game in 2013. Matt Forte averaged 18.1 rushes per game in 2013, and 16.5 so far in 2014.

It'd be cool if people stopped exaggerating and repeating this "he refuses to establish a run game" nonsense because of one game in Detroit and act like that's been every game. Nobody was whining about this shit last season. I don't think 3 more rushes per game would have magically made the season turn out differently.

Hell I don't think rushing 40 times a game would change anything except maybe make the scores even more lopsided. People would just bitch even more that Trestman isn't utilizing the talent on offense by asking 5 pass blocking offensive linemen to be road graders all game trying to play smashmouth football with an offense built to run a pass first WCO and utlize the talent at TE and WR.

FACT: 29th in the NFL is rushing attempts in 2014. 24th in rushing attempts in 2013.

run pass ratio is totally out of whack. defenders have even said as much. "they don't run the ball." makes it pretty easy for a defense to defend. every defense wants to make the offense one dimensional. the bears do that by design.

the west coast offense does not have to be pass happy. no ones saying they have to run the ball 40 times a game. but they need to establish the run for many, many reasons early in games. trestman has a martz like tendency to abandon the run if it doesn't work the first few carries. running keeps the defense off the field, it opens up playaction(which the bears use hilariously even when they haven't tried to run). it mean jay cutler isn't throwing the ball.
