I'm a little surprised that everyone is immediately jumping to abusive punishments and so easily throwing around words like, "beat," "hitting," and "rape." It's just as vulgar and offensive to wish for the mutilation and abuse of these children, who are at a stage right now where they're assholes, but in time they'll most likely regret their actions. Their desire to be liked by their peers, to feel as though they belong is fuelling their actions more that malicious intent. Children are at a stage where they're looking for more independence and their parents are less aware of their new behaviour that they bust out in front of their new friends. The things coming out of their mouths are horrible, but unlike us, they're not fully formed adults and still have a lot of learning to do. Some of them probably haven't even gone through puberty yet!
How many of us have done something horrible as a young person and regretted it? Do you think their sense of empathy is fully formed yet? Probably not. As adults they will feel sick about this. Regret is a powerful thing.
Again, I agree that this is a monstrous scene, but violence begets violence, etc. That's like saying, "I hope they enjoy their beatings and the PTSD that goes along with it."
Anyway, the should be punished and made to understand the gravity of their actions, but not with fists or cattle prods or whips or forceable sex because that also makes me want to barf.
