Not even close. The Bears had a much better defense and OL (not that much better but still better) when Orton was here.

How do you figure? The '08 Bears had Ogun, Alex Brown and a Tommie Harris who was in his second straight year of being absolutely garbage. They didn't have Peppers yet.

No, I disagree with you. I think overall, the rosters were similarly talented. And even if the case is to be made that the 08 team was marginally (at best) better than the 10-11 teams, there's no way they're 6 or 7 games a season better.

As I said, I was responding to the assertions about how the Bears would have won less than 9 of their last 30 if we didn't have Cutler. My point was that they were 9-7 in the last season without Cutler with a similarly talented roster. So, if the Bears had Orton in 2010 and 2011, I think it's reasonable to guess that they would have been around the same again, give or take a game or two either way. Certainly not the 4 wins per year Digits implied or the 2 wins per year that Panda said.

That's all.

I agree if we had Orton in 2010-2011 we may have had mediocre seasons...but I don't think we make the NFCCG without Cutler or even win the Division with Orton.

Well if the Bears still go 11-5 and get the #2 seed with Orton, they are still going to the NFC Championship Game...They played 7-9 Seattle in that divisional round. They were going to win that game regardless of who was QB.

Agreed. But I never said we would, nor did I say Orton was as good as Cutler.

Again, my response was specifically towards the assertions of Digits and Panda that we would have won 2 to 4 games per year without Cutler.

Why do people dismiss Seattle like that? They did beat the reigning champs prior to playing the Bears, Im pretty sure they would have had a much easier time playing us with Orton under center

my point was with Orton I don't think we go 11-5 and make the playoffs...and don't forget that the 7-9 Seahawks made it to the divisional round by beating the Saints, so don't say just because they were playing the Seahawks that Orton would have won.

Probably, but as we've seen the previous two years the O-Line can step up and block pretty well. They did fine during that win streak last year and through the latter half of 2010 did a good job as well. Not saying we should ignore that issue, but I feel like the defense overall is weaker this year than in the past two..especially in what looks like Urlacher will have a lingering injury. That can spell alot of trouble for the Bears.

Once Cutler went through the "Tell Mike Martz I said FCUK YOU!" episode and the plays changed to shorter drops, passing routes, and TE protection the pass blocking got better. Again that had to do with more TE and getting the ball out quicker. The run blocking was just ok on the outside but still terrible up the middle. It's pathetic when you have an oline that get's beaten like lil bitches so bad they can't even make a run lane up the middle.

I agree with you, I am very concerned about the defense this year. Now, we have already seen what Brandon Marshall is going to add to this team. That was a HUGE upgrade.

Imagine being the QB that's such a weakling that not only does the face of the franchise consider him a pussy, but the thing he's most famous for is getting called out by the league's players for quitting on his team during the biggest game of his life with a sore knee. I'm amazed he was able to achieve an erection to father a child after that.

Which if you even have 25% of a brain, you know is bullshit. That fiasco was unbelievable. The hate for Cutler is so completely unfounded. The fact that you buy into it says a lot about you.

If you watch Bears games and understand what's going on in the game, you know Cutler has a ton of heart, is tough, and is attempting to turn diarrhea into gold.

I get just as pissed off when he makes a boneheaded play or throws a pick that's his fault, as anyone else. But you are a hater. It must be miserable to be a "fan" of a team, and hate the franchise QB that much.

Remember when Vincent Jackson was the best case scenario? I still can't believe Phil pulled that one off.

Only two and maybe 3 WR I would rather have than BM and that's about it. He really is a beast.

Meh... some people hate him cause a lot think hes just a ******.

Its independent of his play... 2 separate things and its important to keep that in mind with guys like mick.

And I agree with you there, but whether you like Cutler or not we are a much different and better team. Are there better QB's out there? Definitely. But Cutler has the potential to be really good and has shown flashes of that. I think thats why so many get so worked up when you talk down on him is because we all know he has the talent.

Yep, it will be interesting to see what happens with him in Tampa. The dolphins seem to wiling to throw out anyone their coach labels a trouble maker for a song. Do we have a new McDanields on the rise in Miami?

You could easily make the argument that we'd be a 4-12 team in 2009 w either Orton or Grossman...well not Grossman cause he was a goner regardless

Who?

Calvin Johnson... Who else?

AJ Green and Julio Jones maybe b/c they are younger...

I'd take BM over Roddy White, Larry Fitz or Andre Johnson.

Calvin Johnson is the only name that really comes to mind.
