I'm pretty confident in saying he's not going to score 40 consistently.
If you just mean being a consistent scorer, he was already that last year, he had 15 or more in 46 of his 70 games. If he can provide at least 15 points 2/3 of this time this year then he's done his job on this team.

if he could at least score 15 or more permanently when boozer comes back i will be happy since he is going to become the 3 option offensively.

if luol deng was paired with a guard like nash or paul, he could score rather efficiently on a nightly basis. he's a smart player, but he lacks athleticism and the ability to make his own shot off the dribble. i liked what i saw from him tonight. i hope to see the offense find more shots for deng where he can score efficiently/easily. also i hope deng keeps working on his shooting. If people start guarding him around the perimeter, deng and rose can be lethal.
