I'll take that bet with you D.J. Urias will give up more than 2 runs for sure. I've watched him plenty, he will be lucky to get a quality start against this Cubs lineup.

He will give up at least one tater, and probably doesn't even make 6. 4 runs in 4 innings or something like that.

Appreciate the offer, but I want this bet with Fatboy.

In the history of best-of-seven postseason series that were tied 1-1, the team that lost Game 3 has come back to win the series just 29.5 percent of the time.

In the League Championship Series, that rate drops to 27.3 percent.

And then there's this: Over the past 30 years, seven teams like the Cubs have found themselves in this precarious position -- down 2-1 in a best-of-seven series -- after winning 100 games that season. Only two have come back to win -- the 1995 Indians and the 1998 Yankees (both in the ALCS).

I love these cherry-picked stats. So there's something magical about Game 3 that makes winning it more important and more predictive in nature than the other games?

Stats like that ignore context. 538 had he cubs at like 40% odds IIRC despite being down 2 to 1.

If the game doesn't go well there is always the final debate to watch which would be similar except in the debate there will be 2 losers.

I read more than a few posts last night on how people will be "devastated" if the Cubs lose....it's a damn game. Devastation is the knowledge that one of these two boneheads is going to be the president of the United States.

So who would you guys start? Here would be my life.

CF Fowler
3B Bryant
1B Rizzo
2B Zobrist
SS Baez
LF Contreras
C Ross
RF Almora

Basically we sacrifice D every where for potential offense by replacing the Loser Twins (Heyward and Russell). And I'm all for sacrificing D (we have no choice at this point)-- but the one move I just can't make is starting Soler. He's just too much of a disaster and it'd be suicide. Zero runs in 18 straight innings -- need to try something. And Russell and Heyward would basically ensure a combined 0-8 at the plate.

I can't sit Russell and break the infield D that helped us all year, and Soler had one of the best AB of the game last night even if he didn't produce. I might catch Contreras but if it's LF I'm going Soler.

How are they cherry picked? They're stats. They are what they are. Anyways, I simply thought it was interesting. Nothing to shit the bed over, they still have to play the game.

I just don't get Zobrist batting 4th. Why not have him 2nd where he can just concentrate on getting on base? I get that Bryant has been batting 2nd basically all year but that's the change I would make.

Wow Maddon is starting Russell and Heyward. I love Joe and we're lucky to have him - but he just delivered a guaranteed Death Sentence to the 2016 season. Urias to possibly pitch a no-hitter through 7 before Jansen puts our season in the Guillotine and chops our head off.

Incredible.

It's like playing 6 vs 8.

(excluding the pitcher)

Well that line up got you past round 1. Sometimes you have to say F-it and roll with what got you there.

Maddon is a top 5 manager, but he does some things that are insane. For example, trotting Arrieta back out there last night after he gave up the two run homer. Every one I knew was shocked he sent him back out there the next inning. First pitch: Home Run.

And now on the heels of 18 straight scoreless innings, he starts two guys in Heyward and Russell who are guaranteed to combine for 0-8, at minimum -- if not 0-10. How could he possibly think this will end well?

Urias will pitch 7 shut out innings with 8 K's and 0 BB's. He'll bridge to The Executioner, who will choke us out and end our season.

Winter meetings right around the corner for Theo to fix this.

Fix it ?
Is Milton Bradley available to match up against the lefties for next year..?
