I am optimistic, and I don't want this to sound - as my dear friend used to say , all "Oh, God. Oh, Suck" - but Jansen unavailable, Kershaw not available until Game 2, Dodgers can't hit lefties and we have Lester starting....the Cubs need to expect the very best from the Dodgers in order to not lose a game they think is in the bag.
No game is a given. I hope John Lackey drills that into their heads so they are not too full of themselves.
The team most likely to beat the Cubs is the Cubs. I am confident Maddon and vets won't allow that, but I am getting worried that there's too much talk of the Cubs being "overwhelming favorites". Why? We don't hit curve balls and they will throw a zillion.
There is no reason to expect a Dodgers win in Game 1 at Wrigley, so that is exactly what I worry about.
(Of course, with Bum in Game 3 at SF, and Game 4 there as well, I labeled Games 1 and 2 as "must win". But I wasn't really wrong. If we had lost one of those, that 5-2 deficit would have been 1000 x worse.)
