It's interesting to see fangraphs and likely other stats places are putting the cubs odds in this forthcoming series at roughly 65%.

It seems to me that the Cubs are an awful matchup for the Indians. Their formula is to get an early lead and go to Miller, but against the Cubs they're unlikely to have many early leads given the strength of the Cubs starting pitching and offense against the weakness of Cleveland's SP.

Yep. 538 gives them a 63% chance of winning the WS over Cleveland.

One of the first guys to congratulate Joe was Ruiz. Classy move. Saw a stat this morning, Kyles 17 straight retired is a new NLCS record, passing 15 from some guy in 2005 from the south side lol. If Javy came up with that first grounder, and he was very close, Joe would have pulled Kyle after the first hit. Kid deserved to get thru the 8th at least, but I love the kids mindset, not Lackey, Hammel or lester like leaving the game.

Indians run. They could have a track meet with Lester and Arrieta on the mound. The Cubs are going to have to focus big time on that. They could counter it by just not allowing base runners, but we will see.

I'm not a fan of seeing Heyward with a bat in his hands, is there a lot of difference in his arm throwing from right field to Almorra's.?

To counter Cleveland's strong base running/ the strength of their offense, the Cubs need to have their best arms in the OF.

Heyward is a superior right fielder to Almora. Also, why do people keep wanting Almora. He hasnt done anything with his at bats either. He is 0 for 10 with a sacrifice bunt. This isnt a rant towards you just so many people keep saying this.

Almora went 0 for 3 with a K last night. No one said anything. That is exactly the same production as Heyward. The Cubs also brought Heyward in for defense later in the game. I think Joe is going to do what he has done all post season. Play his best defensive lineup.

I think the biggest problem he is going to run into is who catches Arrieta? Its either Ross or Montero. Can Ross go back to back days? If not, then Montero and Arrieta is going to suck if runners get on.

Rememeber, Cleveland lost most of their starting pitching. This whole post season has been about them getting a lead and 5 innings out of their starters then turning to Shaw, Miller, and Allen. Francona has no problem throwing Miller for 2 to 3 innings. The Cubs have to get early leads to counter act this. They have to keep them off the board.Indians have been lights out when playing ahead.

I think, again, we win a war of attrition against Cleveland. We have better D, better starting pitcher and a slight advantage offensively.

Cleveland has played amazing with half their starters injured - but can they do that again? We're a better team than Toronto. It won't be easy against us. We're a tough draw for them.

I think we'll out last Cleveland. Miller can't pitch 3 innings a night.

After Clevelands first 2 starters they aren't solid. Also Miller has been lights out but he can't pitch every day especially throwing 2 and 3 innings per appearance.

I think seeing Heyward continue to fail at the plate anyone could do better but vs the Indians his defensive prowess should be used over AA's who I've heard some say isn't that much of a fall off on defense from JHey's.

People don't know what they are talking about. Almora is a CF that is plus, but little experience in right. People really have no idea how good Heyward is in right. He stops teams from taking the extra base constanstly. His routes are superb and his experience trumps Almora. He is also better on the base paths and walks better.

Agreed. Almora could have made it easier on everybody, if he would have just gotten a few hits. He didn't.

It's not quite that easy. Most teams that try to run wild get gunshy after Contreras/Ross and Baez throw out a few guys. The Cubs could also run more set plays like the Ross-Baez backpick at 1B in the NLDS. And overall, basestealing is just not that important to winning games when compared to pitching, hitting, and defense, all of which are strongly in the Cubs favor.

I liked Almora vs a kershaw type because of his aggressiveness. Heyward with his more patient approach in general is nicer(least when he's hitting) but I personally feel when you get to this point in the season you're usually seeing guys who just don't miss often. Honestly, I'd probably platoon them. Heyward being a lefty and Almora being a righty sort of give you similar defense and while I think Heyward probably figures out his swing mechanics over the offseason he's obviously not here yet as much as I had hoped some of his hard hit rate was a positive sign.

If we make the Indians play from behind we'll win.

I wish there was a way to put Kid K on the roster. I bet he has some gas left in him. Saw his video of him celebrating the Cubs win. He popped bottles. Also, I didnt know Alfonso Soriano was there. Class act guy.
