He would do it if the post season is on the line.

Screw setting him up for the 2nd round, if they don't make it there is no next series.

That team lacks depth. But they have the best post season starter. He has proven that he can shut down any team at any time.

That said, this is the match up I was worried about. They have to beat Cueto in game 1. They can't afford to go into SF at 1-1 with MadBum sitting on a pivot game. The line up has not proven that they can beat him. That is not a game I want to be co-dependent on the O to win.

So if they come into game 3 anything other than up 2-0 the season is screwed.

David Kaplan just said on ESPN1000 that he'd do it.

So rather than have a chance to go into a CS with your all world starter in game 1 you'd burn him in a relief role in game 5? If the game was 0-0 in the 8th maybe you do that, but it's certainly not something you think about.

I disagree with that. That's certainly the game plan but the odds of Bumgarner doing what he's done in the postseason are so astronomical that I wouldn't be at all surprised if he loses a game and Matt Moore in game 4 is certainly beatable. You go up 2-0 you win the series, but go back to SF 1-1 it certainly won't mean they're done.

That would be insane in a NLDS. Bochy is a risk taker but I've never taken him as stark raving nuts.

You say "in an NLDS" as though it's a risk they may take in a "bigger series".

But if they lose Game 5 in the NLDS, what bigger games await?

Cubs need to take pitches, show that OBP prowess that kicked pitchers' asses early in the year.

Giants' offense and bullpen do them in.

Cubs in 4.

You can't expect to win at their home field when they have to more proven starter. We are not talking about a guy like Lester who has a good record. We are talking about a guy that single handed changed their fate.

With out him SF is a joke.

No chance they pitch him out of the bullpen in game 5 on two days rest just to win the Division Series.
Seen it done before and if you don't win division series then you go home..

So, usually game 5 or 7 are all hands on deck..

If they feel they need him for inning, theyll use him

If the Giants win 2 of the first three, the Cubs are done.
Agreed, so essentially the Cubs need to take the first 2 since game 3 won't be looking too good.

I'm so nervous for this series.

How you beat that is throw strikes early in the count then force the hitters to become defensive hitters. The Cubs strength is sitting on pitchers who nibble. pitchers with solid SO:BB ratios normally are getting ahead in the count.

I'm concerned about our offense too. It's been inconsistant a good part of the year. They are capable though. The talent is definetly there

Need help- i found a website this summer that tells you number of rows and seats in each section. I cant find it.

How many rows in the bleachers. I am looking at tix in sec 305, for example.

Just to be clear, being tied 1-1 going into game 3 against Madbum does not mean we will definitely be eliminated. It's not a position I would like to be in, but it is absolutely not a certain death. Looks look at one possible scenario:

Game 1: Cueto has an electric performance and SF wins.
Game 2: We get to Shark and tie the series up at 1-1.
Game 3: Madbum is Madbum and SF goes up 2-1.
Game 4: Moore pitches decent/good but we win a close one and tie it up 2-2.
Game 5: As history dictates, Cueto won't have two dominant performances in the same series. We will tee off on him and get the win.

Look, Cueto is very inconsistent in the playoffs. He's not going to have two dominant performances against us. Being tied 1-1 going into game 3 is not necessarily a death sentence for us. Of course we don't want to be in that position -- but if we are, it won't mean its over.

SF's bullpen is very suspect. You don't trot them out just to lose in a critical game 5 moment just being you are "paying" them.
Good to know. I thought they were a professional pitching staff.
