In 2 games, Cubs pitchers have more RBIs than the whole Giants team.

Glad we won
But was kind of hoping for a split
Really hope we put it away monday because.....

Anybody know what 84-89-98-03-07-08-15 have in common?

that's why I used to love Papelbon. Everyone knew it was just a fastball coming but no one could ever hit it.

Papelbon is a pussy

Well....there is a common theme with the cubs.

In those years we've lost 3-3-3-3-3-3-4 in a row to exit the playoffs each time.

Send a message, score in top of the 1st, prove bumgarner can be gotten to and end it Monday!

Wondering if maddon would actually put soler in lf, bryant in rf and baez at 3b....benching heyward vs the lhp since it sounds like montero is starting and if heyward is out there thats 3 lhb vs bum (plus the pitcher)

I'm not trying to be a dick I feel like you just said nothing. Cubs do not have to send any message. They need to win 1 of the next 3. Baseball is an incredible game. History means nothing to any of these players because it means nothing. This is a great team with years to go. Nothing else, nothing more. Drink it in

It is beyond sending messages time...the Cubs did that during the regular season. It is play and advance time, which means you focus solely on winning the next game, regardless if you are up 2-0 or down 2-0 in the NLDS, NLCS, or WS. The thing I like about this team is our offensive "heroes" during the regular season have been relatively quiet and some of the unsung heroes have stepped up and delivered. The strength of our pitching staff, up and down the line, has really been highlighted these first two games. I also think we are starting to see the results of Maddon's genius in preparing this crew over the course of the long season, and Theo and Co.'s trades leading to the deadline have proven to be a difference maker to this point.

Baseball is a funny game and the playoff system could use some tweaking...I agree with Costas in thinking why not cut the regular season back to 158 - 160 games and make the Division series a 7 game series. Reward the top 2 teams in each league for their work over the course of a season by making it a best of 7 game series. With that being said, I don't think the Cubs need to worry about "sending a message", they just need to worry about winning the game on Monday...period!

Costas is annoying tonight.

"tonight"...

Glad you can use the 670 audio with MLBTV. Hope that continues for all series.

This is kind of a side note not worthy of its own thread, but it bugs me that ALL playoff teams have the "we came to reign" shirts. If one team does that on their own, it's a cool statement. If all teams have the same shirts, it's just dumb. I know it's a follow-up to the "train to reign" shirts that every team was sporting in spring training, and I know that's an MLB thing so fine, whatever, but it bugs me.

"We came to reign"
"No, WE came to reign"
"We're gonna have a problem here..."

Absolutely not. Odds are the Cubs aren't going to score much against Bumgarner no matter who's in lineup, so they should go full defense for run suppression and attempt to keep the game as close as possible. Heyward plays, and Maddon should even consider playing Almora over Fowler.

Not going to help much if Jake throws 6 walks again. It comes down to the starter as always. He has to go out and be on that day. Yesterday they are facing Shark and again it shows why he is a 3-4 at best. In high pressure he fizzles.

Jake has to have a A+ game with a little luck from the O. We saw from Thor who pitched his ass off it matter little if the O doesn't score. So yes the Cubs need to get guys in there who can put runs on the board.

I wouldn't change a thing. If I tweaked anything I'm putting Almora in RF strait. His D there is still high quality. I believe it matter little with MadBum but the fact he is a contact guy it can't hurt making their D make plays.

But I believe it will end up status Que. Ain't broke, don't fix it.

I think Almora will start in RF in place of Heyward.

I doubt Fowler is even considered anywhere but where he is at.

2-0 lead, going against the immovable object, I could see Almora in Right and Soler in left with Baez on the bench. Put your head down and run young man. I really doubt Zobrist will have a game off. You figure Miggy will hit 8th to catch Jake anyway and all Soler needs is one swing when Jake keeps it close.

Last night we saw another difference between Hendricks and Hammel or Lackey. Hammel or Lackey would have lied and stayed in the game after getting hit in the forearm. Kyle put the team ahead of his win.

Great game by the pen, cant wait til tomorrow night. Jake is going to battle.
