2-0 lead, going against the immovable object, I could see Almora in Right and Soler in left with Baez on the bench. Put your head down and run young man. I really doubt Zobrist will have a game off. You figure Miggy will hit 8th to catch Jake anyway and all Soler needs is one swing when Jake keeps it close.

Last night we saw another difference between Hendricks and Hammel or Lackey. Hammel or Lackey would have lied and stayed in the game after getting hit in the forearm. Kyle put the team ahead of his win.

Great game by the pen, cant wait til tomorrow night. Jake is going to battle.

You think Baez sits in what should be a close game that will rely on defense against a lefty because he didnt bust it out of the box at first? Baez probably plays the game harder than anyone on the Cubs. People are lulz.

Absolutely not. Odds are the Cubs aren't going to score much against Bumgarner no matter who's in lineup, so they should go full defense for run suppression and attempt to keep the game as close as possible. Heyward plays, and Maddon should even consider playing Almora over Fowler.

And baez hits lhp much better than rhp (same with zobrist) so id assume both play

Love the defense heyward brings but if monteto is catching then 3 lhh and arrietta vs bum isn't a recipie for success.....if you start soler/zobrist in the of you can yank soler in 5th or 6th after his 3 rd ab

Starting to feel like 84-89-98-03-07-08-15

Always one heartbreaker in the mix of going down in flames with 3 straight losses to gag.

5 outs away then implode in the 8th....sounds familiar.

Didn't like chapman for that many outs....he would have likely needed 40+ pitches to do it as he can't put people away lately without multiple foul balls racking up the pitch count

Was hoping for a no doubter after arrieta hit that bomb but we sat around....offense has been brutal outside the pitchers.

The chapman move had me shaking my head. Shoot, taking Arrieta out didn't seem right either. Maddon does a great job 99% of the time. Just a couple things that didn't pan out. It's easy to get bummed and doubt the team as a Cubs fan...... 08 was surreal. It was like when you finish eating a delicious meal or an amazing chocolate, and you want more, but there is no more, and your wife didn't go grocery shopping, and you have to go to bed hungry, dreaming of "next year".

Yeah.... I am in Europe 8 hours ahead of ya'll and I couldn't stay up last night to watch live. I did not know the outcome, didn't even look at my phone once. I sat through that miserable 5 hours watching it on replay.... ugh, I should have just looked the the highlights and not wasted my day.
