It would but his bat doesn't hold up as well from second base. He is more valuable from the SS position.

I've heard that article several times, and I just don't get it. If you put Barney at SS, and his defense was better than Castro's, and moved Castro to short where he improved his defense, how does it affect the value in a negative way? I mean, I guess I understand how it affects the player's value, but it would improve the value to the team, no?

Amazing how bad the back end of the bullpen for the cubs is.....after the big 3 its scary as hell...Mateo done decent job but still scary

The "Big 3" you are referring to is synonymous with the back end. Think you mean the front end is :turrible:.

It would improve the team I suppose. It would improve Barneys value more than it would hurt Castros. Not sure of Barneys defense at SS.

The reason I wouldn't do it is because Barney is not a viable starter going forward.

That's what everyone has been saying, except I think everyone underestimates him, at least to an extent.

Barney may not be a viable starter going forward, and you want to put Castro in a position somewhere and leave him, I agree...

Barney was brought up a SS I believe...was a AAA All-Star at Short and won the college WS as a SS...

(NICE K WOOD!!!!)

...with Oregon State in '07. Kid can play there, no doubt, but whether or not he's tough enough of an out w/ the bat makes you wonder if he's a solution there for a year, for a few years, or for a week.

His ops has dropped below 800 already. His k's will go up. His walks down. He just isn't a good bat. Luckily his glove seems to be good but really he is Theriot-lite.

Why did Baker not get to PH vs. Morales? Q is a dipshit.

EDIT: Why is Baker hitting vs. RHP at all?

Its simple. Castro is the SS now and for the Future. He only 21 and will make some stupid errors. He has great range with really strong arm. Barney will be prolly a career utitlity IF. Right now Barney gives Cubs best option Defense wise at 2B and is hitting well right now. I dont know whats the argument about it.
