You don't work the D for clean shots on goal, getting too over aggressive, and hastily shooting, you run the risk of giving up the shorty, as the Kings did.

The Kings may have missed the playoffs all together last season, but they are looking sharp, and are well coached. 2 cups in the last 4 years is not a fluke.

By the some coin, if you have watched much of the Hawks, you'd know that they can score in bunches in a flash, and that no lead is ever safe against them. It was fun to watch them ratchet it up this game. You know they wanted to piss on LA's fire. This team plays for the post season. They have taken 2 cups, and went to a game 7 OT in the WCF, in the last 3 years. Don't get fooled by the regular season. They are the Cup favorites until they are eliminated. Just enjoy the season. This is still a very special team

Yes we all know they won 3 cups. I'm talking about the last 3 years tho. 2 cups, and a game 7 OT loss in the WCF (if they got that OT goal, they would have been the team to smash the Rangers in the SCF, as everyone knows that season, whoever won the WCF would sleep walk through whatever shitty team came out of the East).

Point being is that they have played more hockey in the last 3 seasons than any other team in the NHL-regardless of seeding or regular season record. For the Hawks, they just play to get to the playoffs, then they wreak havoc and dominate.

''Johnny made a nifty play to Artie (Anisimov). We can't score on breakaways except for Artie. Nice to see him finish it.'' Q

Great night. Thought Crawford looked merely average until that big stop then went into Brick Wall mode--2.00GAA? I'll take it. Was definitely good enough and better than Quick.

Hartmann and Kruger looked weak tonight.

I was against them breaking up The Breadmaster and Buttery Pat, but both Kane and Toews came up huge. That no-look feed to T² was filthy!

Anisimov. Wow. I hope he keeps it up.

Looking forward to Wednesday. Still no Hoss.

I think there are a few questions that were answered here. Does, Bickell help the Blackhawks win right now? The answer has been "no". Does, Bickell gain more value in the AHL or the NHL right now? I think the answer to that is that he hasn't gained any value in the NHL this season so you might as well put him in the AHL and bring up someone that can help the team more than he currently can.

Have to wonder if injuries have taken their toll on him. Rumors of bad knees and vertigo could have scared teams off. Bickell even said that he wasn't 100% over the vertigo issue going into this season.
Pulling this back up, to my knowledge there was no cap reason to send Bickell down...yet. It doesn't matter if he's AHL'ed or helping Runblad fetch off Eddie O. I would have though Stan would have held him up for a bit--maybe giving him *some* shots to prove himself, then re-waive him for a chance to be free of 4M. It doesn't matter too much though.

The Blackhawks save approximately $950k (minimum salary + $375k) in cap space by sending Bickell down to AHL but then they more or less use that cap space up on a player to replace him (currently Dano). So, yes - basically there is no cap reason to send Bickell down because that cap space is quickly eaten if someone is brought up. It is definitely not like a few years ago where you could bury a player.

I know that. My point was they didn't need to send Bickell down for the capspace. With Keith and Rosie on LTIR they have plenty of wiggle room and the only cap constraint is when they come off.

The constraint, after looking at Hockey's cap, is the 23-man active roster, not the capspace (that's what got me). With Tiko, Bickell, and Runblad fetching off Eddie O, & Hossa injured, there's not enough space for all of Hartmann, Kero, Dano, or Gustaffson. Hossa so far is not LTIR'ed wich means that one of those three had to be waived and Bickell already was.

It's a small sample size, yes, but as of this moment I'm actually quite happy that the Hawks traded Saad if this was the return. Anisimov has been the 2C the Hawks haven't had in the Toews/Kane era.
I wouldn't exactly say I'm happy Saad got traded, but I think the overall result of a trade that unfortunately had to be made, doesn't seem to have hurt the Hawks. Although AA looks promising at the moment, we won't know for sure that he's an upgrade until the playoffs. By that time, Dano might also be an impact player...which is just icing on the cupcake.

Bottom line, Stan made one helluva deal when he had no choice but to make one.
