I applaud you for that.
everyone knows my rep around here, and it isnt being a homer that is for sure and joehawks isnt a homer either, he is extreme negative nancy
I applaud you for that.
Speaking of the Cubs.
Do you think Thornton is LaTroy Hawkins 2.0?
And by that I mean great setup pitcher awful closer.
Very well could be. He doesn't have enough pitches to be a closer. Eventually, Ozzie will realize that, after he swallows his pride a bit. I wish he would do it now.
Congrats. I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about 95% of the posters here. Rip on any of the Hawks players and you don't know shit about hockey (of course I played for 14 years and reffed for 6, but whatever). Ask a legit question about Lovie Smith, and no one wants to critique him at all. Talk about how the Heat might be a problem for the Bulls and be completely discredited.
In all honesty, the Sox forum is the only one that does have a good mix of realistics and critics.
I don't think you need any amount of pitches I mean he did fine in the eighth and hitters dont magically get better in the ninth. I think it's a mental thing.
Also Rivera basically has one pitch and is the greatest closer of all time.
played hockey since i was 3. 31 now.thought i could go pro when i was 13. played for rolling meadows chargers, and schaumburg kings.
I know what you are saying about some of the users. I do understand. and yes it is fucking annoying.
Aside from Rivera, who has the best cutter in the history of the game, most other closers have a breaking ball and a fastball of some sort. Thorton's slider is non-existant this season, so he has 1 pitch... and it isn't very good.
Mentality plays a huge role, agreed, but Sales and Santos have more pitches and are better options, imo.
this 9th inning shit isnt sitting well with me at all. i understand teams will blow saves but this could be a trend with thornton.
I want a righty to close
Ahhh the good old days. I was a charger, a downer's grove husky, a naperville sabre, on team illinois, and a naperville central redhawk. reffed for 6 years after that.
And then some scrub is going to tell me that I'm not seeing what I'm seeing when I watch the game.
Homers abound.

Thorton has blown more saves in the first 3 weeks of the season then the top 5 closers will blow in a year. The experiment should be over, regardless of the defense behind him. He is getting hit HARD, his fastball has no life and he doesn't even bother with his slider.
Sales or Santos NOW!
Wasted a damn good outing by Burls.
