Illini could conceivably start 14-0 if they win at NW on December 1st.
Groce would have lost a couple of these already. Underwood and his staff can really coach. I have no illusions they will top MSU, but just look at the turnaround of AJ. It's like getting a new player. Antigua has helped Black and Finke. Finke is finishing at the rim now. They are young with the Freshman and will come up with a few headscratchers, but this season will not be as gloomy as predicted.granted, its a cupcake schedule

Man did this team ever fall apart.... They were exponentially worse than I thought.
Groce originally recruited Smith. Smith leaving is on Smith and his Dad. It's time to move on. Illinois will be better with players who want to get better.Underwood taking over for Groce, not sure what to expect the first year.
Smith was Mr. Basketball of Illinois 2017 def highly regarded and leaves after Underwood recruited him...
Nick Irvin
Robert Smith
Michael Oliver
Tyrone Slaughter
Why they haven't hired one of these guys on the staff is beyond me.
So aside from signing 5* Dosunmu in the Fall, they've now signed Alan Griffin (former NBAer Adrian Griffin's son) and a true big man, Samba Kane. Looking forward to more signings for Spring period.
They've offered the #4 Juco rebounder, Trice. He's announcing on April 11 where he is going, but looking at the staff, they are leaving no stone unturned. We are likely to see a bit more roster turnover and a few more 2018 late signing period studs signed along with perhaps a 5th year big man. There are several good people to follow on twitter for this stuff. Suffice it to say, this program is on its way back up. Underwood has never missed a NCAA tourney. This is the first time. I'm sure he's pissed.Losing has become such a staple of this program since 2005. Only 3 2nd round trips since then, correct?
Any JUCO transfers in the works?
