Is Whitman crazy enough to go after Gus Malzahn?

Congratulations on saying it would fail. My observation from fan message boards is that 95% of fans say everything will fail, so...congrats, I guess.

I am tickled by the idea of Lovie Smith at LSU as DC to overhaul Odgerron's system.

The point is that Lovie Smith would never have a bend then "break" defense with that defensive line. They would get it done and slow teams down, take away the deep ball even with the corners they have now and give their defense a chance to win battles, atrition, and then make big plays.

He might not have the best system anymore, but in that situation he could provide an immediate band-aid while they retain whoever the OC is down there who finally brought them a modern offense. I believe if you plug Lovie into the D they return to a top 5 program in 2021.

Nagy is the Special teams coordinator and RB whisperer right?

Harbaugh the HC out of touch with everything the media can hate, he lately sounds like he is on valium and just hyperventalating the right syllables and trying to pretend everything is ok. LOL...his press conferences are hilarious. John Fox bad.

My favorite was two weeks ago, with the world burning down around Michigan Football...[high pitched harbaough voice, staring off into space, totally disconnected and non-present] "The future of Michigan Football has never been brighter. Every opportunity is ahead of us." It reads like a Tony Robbins script from a man trapped in a car while being extracted by the jaws of life, injected with several loads of morphine.." everything is going to be ok...we are doing better than ever...its great here, so warm. Am I in a hot tub?"

Trestman as OC and "team building activities wednesday" coordinator.

Lovie as DC, we play 85% cover-2, and 15% prevent for old times sake.

I think you fucking nailed it.

I thought he would have been a better recruiter, to have Northwestern pass you up is intolerable with a school of 60,000 and moderate qualifications necessary. You should have every piece of the puzzle you could want.
How can a black former NFL coach known for defense not recruit an LSU/Alabama type defense?
I just would have expected him and Herm Edwards could have done better so I guess I don't understand the dynamics of college football or what attracts top parents/players to a program.

If I was a 5 star athlete parent and I saw Herm Edwards was coaching a team...it would take Nick Saban to change my course. You could have had Arizona weather and Herm Edwards mentoring your child. How do they not recruit a top 5 defense in all the land?

I hear ya on the D. But regardless of the level, ya gotta have a good Qb. Smith never had one.

Well, when you're an Illini fan, almost everything does fail. So you'll have to forgive our pessimism. Despite Whitman's football background, I'm not very confident in him choosing the next coach. But I'll have to wait and see what he does.
