i put this in another site. Didn't get to may responses, but i wanted to see what it would get here.

I remember towards the beggining of the year that Steve Smith would write about a possible trade scenario involving Portland. I dont remember what the pieces were, but I knew Portland had an interest in Kirk, and that a trade would probably land Blake and another here.. At first, i didnt really like the sound of a trade like that at all, but i kind of find myself thinking that it could it turn out very nicely for us.

So could a trade with Portland still be possible?? I mean if somehow, Deng was actually traded (wether involved in a trade for a big man or not), we would need another SF. A trade would obviously involve Kirk, and Blake, but i also find myself really liking Batum. The guy is very athletic, long, can shoot from the perimeter, and pretty much an all around great player, and i have really high hopes for him and would love to see him in a Bulls uniform. I dont know how we would get salaries to work, but that could be figured out later. My question is what would you guys think of a trade like that?? Remember, i said IF Deng were gone.

I believe they will resign fan favorite Steve Blake as for Batum they are extremely high on this kid and I believe he is an untouchable right now.

I understand, brainstorming. There one team that just loved Deng and I think the Bulls feared that. I doubt they love him any more though. I read that Blazers think Batum has very high expectations in this league.

I believe you might still could get Portland to take Deng. Deng for Outlaw and a future pick would be pretty strong. That would give you the money to bring Gordon back and bring in two players via 09 draft. I know Blazers like Batum but I know Pritchard loves Deng and they could easily have room for both guys.

Rose,Hinrich
Gordon
Salmons,Outlaw
Thomas
Noah,Miller

That is essentially the team that is on fire right now with Outlaw added in not to mention both of those 09 draft picks.
Rose 5.2
Hinrich 9.5
Gordon 8?
Salmons 6.4
Outlaw 3.6
Tyrus 4.7
Noah 2.5
Tim 6.5
James 6.6
Miller 12.3
2 draft picks 3.0

That would 12 players at right at 68 million.

If we could do Hinrich for Blake + Batum that'd be a nice deal for us. We'd waive Blake (non guaranteed) at which point he could go back to Portland if he wants (or elsewhere) and we'd just get cash savings and Batum.

I don't know what Portland would want to do and how much they like their guys. They are a team who really needs better players with more experience now and not to sit and continue to cycle young guys.

Between all their youth they don't have enough time to fully develop everyone. Portland should land Chris Bosh or Amare or someone like that this summer. Imagine if they traded Rudy Fernandez + Batum + expirings for Bosh. Then traded us non guaranteed deals for Hinrich and/or Deng.

They could basically go to war with:
Hinrich, Roy, Deng, Bosh, Oden with Przybilla, Aldridge and Bayless on the bench

That team would destroy. Of course, I don't know if they could pay to keep it together.

Pays never been a problem with Paul Allen. I rather see Blazers continue to go with their youth and see how they grow together.

i dont think they use webster much... he's injury prone, but he has a really cheap deal for the next couple years. if they traded someone i'd imagine it would be him. they cant juggle outlaw, webster, fernandez and batum's minutes.... someone has to go. The blazers are probally too lame to realize that.

i think we could still use Blake though. Hes a decent backup PG and i think he only has like a 4 or 5 mil salary. I wonder if they would trade Rudy though, i think they need him. If they trade, its most likely a SF, or PG because they have Bayless, Rodriguez, and Blake at PG, and they have Webster, Outlaw, and Batum at SF.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
If we traded for Blake then I would be all for using him to back up Rose. However I think that Portland would be more likely to give up someone like Bayless or Webster. Ideally I would want to receive Outlaw/Batum and Fernandez/Blake for Deng and/or Hinrich and salary fillers. I don't see Portland giving up those for Deng or Hinrich though, probably more likely to give them up for Bosh. However they already have Oden and Aldridge so that would be unlikely unless they gave up one of them in that kind of deal too. Portland is an interesting subject...they have so much to work with.

From everything we've heard portland is extremely difficult to deal wit since they over value all of their players just like we used too while I don't think we'd be able to pry batum from them someone like webster or outlaw along wit steve blake might be possible but we have to find a w way too move hinrich this offseason without totally getting ripped off because even though id love too keep him and BG and move deng no ones goin to want that bum at this point so kirk has to be moved for cap space n maybe a young player so we can keep gordon

Oh yes they do overvalue their guys for sure, one Blazer official compared Batum to Pippen. Dont forget that parade they threw Oden after he was drafted like he was Jesus coming to rescue the Blazers  .

The Bulls and Blazers were talking Kirk Hinrich pretty much all summer and tried out every possible option but nothing was done. I wouldn't be surprised at if talks get revisited this off-season again.

Seems more likely given that Hinrich has played so well this season too.

I think he's exactly what Portland needs.

If they signed Blake wouldn't he be cheap than what Kirk has left? Kirk has what two years left?

Kirk's a lot better than Blake though and can defend.

Thats true. I love Kirk however his value has increased so if we can get some nice pieces in a deal for him and save some money to give to Ben I would have to consider it.

Kirk for Outlaw + Blake + Rodriguez

Then try to trade Deng in the off season to a team that may still think highly of him. Cut Blake and keep Rodriguez to back up Rose.

I rather cut Rodriguez who is a horrible defender and try to resign Blake.

Well both are horrible defenders to be honest. But I agree that Blake is the better overall player.

The only reason why I'd prefer to keep Rodriguez is because he is and will remain a cheaper option over Blake, and he won't be expected to play big minutes behind Rose, whereas Blake will likely be looking for a bigger contract and a more significant role on a team which he could likely get on another team.
