Unions are great for getting normal americans who probably otherwise wouldn't get a decent wage and benefits..

Some of the bad things are.. Some can get violent and cause damage and even harm if they don't get their way.

Here is where I stand....

Im sitting here at home with my mom who works hard for her money, over 40 hours a week, and she can barely keep her head above the water.

Her parents came here because of the so called "American Dream" and this land of opportunity. They worked their asses off when they came here, and my mom continues to do so, and it just seems to not be what they had heard.

We have had times where we have had less than $5 to our name. At times, between me, my mom, and my 2 sisters, we have had 6 jobs combined. This economic climate is affecting everybody, and the outlook for raising a family and succeeding in this country looks bleak.

Remember those promises of hard work being rewarded in America?

And your right, America always has been and will probably always will be a country run on greed. and I agree with Rush, I believe our government is corrupt as hell, so I guess we just have to deal with it.

So I guess I'll retract my comment, since like I said, it always has been greedy

they were good at their inception, but lately....show me a good one, please. they appear to be more greedy than the corporations.

I'm in California. Teachers, Correction/Police/Highway Patrol officers, Fire Fighters...all state employees can retire at either 55 or 20 years service. So, lets say we have someone who is both 55 and has 20 years. They retire, someone at age 35 replaces that person. 20 years that person is retiring at 55 the first guy is now 75 and possibly still alive. Another 35 year old comes in and replaces employee #2, and now we have 3 people were paying to do one job. Public employee unions suck balls and are completely leeching and raping this country

American Dream is a myth, not a promise of anything from anybody though.

Pretty much TBO..

Like my household..

My dad (before getting his knee replaced) was working 50-60 hours a week..

My mom was a middle school teacher and got layed off after last school year..

Myself.. I've been looking for work.. basically any work.. for almost 3 years. With only getting small little temp jobs.. It doesn't help.

--------

Thankfully (well.. its kinda weird) but we had some relatives pass on and got some inheritance in the past few years.. Otherwise we'd be in the shit right now.

for you guys looking for work, don't just send a resume. Call and give the person hiring your skills, credentials and sound confident over the phone. if you're crossing your fingers and hoping someone is gonna look at your resume and choose it over the other hundred or so, you're kidding yourself.

we need internet for my moms job, we have the cheapest one available for our service provider

We have cable, but no movie channels, pretty much basic cable

We have no home phone

We have cell phones, but only 300 mins (to keep it cheap)

This is the reason I also quit playing hockey, we couldnt afford it anymore

Ive done that for several years.. Including driving hours in most cases going in and talking to managers and regional supervisors..

Unfortunately.. I wish it was that easy.

---

I payed for about $900 worth of forklift training a few years ago.. and since it didn't cover half of the things that are required in safety training.. Most warehouses don't consider it legit..

Thanks Job Corps..

i think the thing most Americans spend too much money on is food. try eating cheap...mac and cheese, fruits, vegetables, but whatever it is buy it and cook it yourself. don't eat out, it saves a lot of money. I hope I'm not preaching or being condescending to you or anyone else, but I'm 38 and I think most of you are still in your 20's. So, I have been through a little more than you guys and if I can help I will
