Yeah but you don't have any timeouts or the ability to go for it on 4th down so it makes your statement inaccurate.

Using that logic, people like Pace should not use a statement like, "We should have gone for it on 4th down" because he, in fact, does not have a timeout to spend either, seeing that he has no direct effect with what goes on during the game.

He still works for the Bears organization though.

Windy's explanation is good. If you are emotionally invested in the team, it's okay to say "we."

I'm a pretty stoic dude, and when Parkey double-clanked that field goal for the loss, I had a sinking/shocked feeling.

To quote the great brett05, "Define emotionally invested."

Yet he has neither the availability nor the possibility of using timeouts.

Your logic is weak.

Quora is definitely the authority on this, and I agree with their definition.

Emotional investment means you have emotionally bonded with someone (or something). They come as a point of attachment, a feeling of connectedness, liking, and even those that give us fond memories. To some extent, those emotionally involved in people and things have placed heavy sentimental values toward them.

What about the government? Like, would you say "we are pulling out of Syria"?

On the Windy scale, I would describe myself as comparatively more financially but less emotionally invested in the government than in the Bears.

I think that the poll results speak for themselves.

I might suggest that if this definition describes you as a fan of a professional sports team then you have probably have some issues to work on.

If you invest financially and emotionally than feel free to use we.

How about just emotionally. I don't want to have to become a ccs donator just to say "we".

This is how we prefer it to be...

Everyone thinks they're too cool and don't get that involved with fanship.

But I know I could start a thread tomorrow about why Mitch Trubisky is just an average quarterback and provide my reasoning...and some people would shit a cow sideways. It'd be a +10 page thread.

Yes, but your reasoning lacks logic. OUR reasoning, on the other hand, is sound.
