I do think Hossa gets into the HOF but I don't think his jersey gets retired in Chicago. He's been here for a while but he spent so much of his career in other organizations that I don't think he gets that honor, IMO.

Yah thats the real debate right there. I still think 81 can go up though if he finishes his career in Chicago. Hes pretty much at this point known as a Blackhawk and less a Sens player. Really only those two teams. Thrashers, Wings and Pens dont count.

I believe Hossa will be in the Hall of Fame. Would you be surprised if I told you he was my favorite Hawk?

I don't believe his number will be retired though. Only 2, 19, and 88 will be retired IMO.

Just imagine how good he'd be if he didn't miss open nets!!

Seriously though, putting up those kinds of numbers in the neutral zone trap era are pretty fucking impressive.

The guy also ignored his playoff numbers. So thats that.

Pitt and Detroit for sure don't count. And Atlanta was so damn irrelevant on a league-wide scale it was almost like he didn't exist out there. Honestly the main thing I remembered about Hossa for the first chunk of his career was him knocking Bryan Berard's eye out.

I think Hjalmarsson is going to work his way into consideration for that damn soon.

Really hammer? You trolling?

Seabs is the tricky one when it comes to rafter numbers. Hes the guy thats going to bring the debate esp with #7. Guy should have picked a fancier number less attached to past blueliners. Dumb seabs gunna dumb Seabs.

Hammer will never go up. Just isnt that all around player that gets these types of honors.

Oh I think Seabs is already in that talk for sure, and I'd probably put his number up with everyone else if he retired tomorrow.

Hjammer isn't there right now, no, but he's been on the team for 8 years already and if he plays out his current contract in Chicago, that's a 12-year tenure (with more years certainly not out of the question). And playing at the level he has, I think you'd at least have to entertain that idea.

I honestly thought there would've been more people jumping in saying that Hossa was not a HOF candidate.

Then you have to consider Doug Wilson and Larmer.
Yep, I brought that back to life.

They would have to bring a seriously strong argument to the table to argue otherwise.

I think everyone would argue that he is a candidate but that's a different question entirely than if we think he will get in.

I meant HOF-worthy. I would've thought there would've been more people suggesting he is not HOF-worthy. I agree that he's absolutely a candidate.

I say he gets in first ballot, and what I say goes.

First ballot because of his numbers, his excellent, excellent two-way play and the success of the teams he played on (5 Cup Finals in the last 8 years) won't hurt him.

Even though his offensive play has dipped as he became a complete 2-way player over the years 20+ goals and 60+ points is virtually automatic for him (and historically he has been closer to 30/80 most of his career). That's the kind of consistency that gets you into the Hall even if you're not putting up 50 goals a season; combine that with his excellent back-checking and PK duties and I'd say he's a lock.
