Pierre Pilotte still has a damn good case as the best Hawks Dman up there.

Hossa has no individual awards or close to it and people are aware of the lack of votes wingers get in the post lockout era for Selkies. There is hardly a case for almost any better 2-way winger in his prime era which is mainly that point til now still.

Speaking on the retired front, I'd be fore a retiring of #7 as well for another quality joint retiring.

You dont think duncs goes in the rafters? Hes the best blueliner the hawks have ever had...period.

Dmen are so hard to call. I'd say he picks up another Norris while wearing Blackhawk red he goes

Just saw this article pop up online, it's written by Sean McIndoe (aka DownGoesBrown) over at Grantland, a guy who I've always thought is an excellent hockey writer.

Link is here

I'd encourage you to read the whole thing because he makes a ton of good points for/against Hossa. But his final verdict is quoted below.

Very good post and thanks for the article. To me, Hossa is like the Paul Konerko of the hockey world. Very good player with very good numbers. Borderline HOFer. It might depend on the class when he becomes eligible.

Very good players with very good numbers make up about 90% of players in the hall of fame. They could probably just call the hall of fame " the very good players hall"

I can't argue with you on that. In fact I think that there should be an elite HOFer category where the true greats of a generation are honored.
