Yeah, Bolland really lit it up in the playoffs vs Phoenix.

Hawk fans need to stop overrating the guy. He isn't that good.

A) In Q's matchup-minded philosophy, he IS that good.

B) Trying to get a 2c for a 3c is a good way to get yourself raked over the coals.

C) :obama:

you have to give to get

davey shouldn't be considered untouchable by any means.

Oh God, not the "u" word debate again ...

If someone calls with a deal, sure, you listen. But actively putting him on the block? That's dumb, imo.

One of the best shut-down centers in the league. For the past two years, his line in the playoffs has been the team's best.

Why you'd actively be seeking to trade that piece of the puzzle makes no sense to me.

if he's as valuable as you say, wouldn't the return be pretty good?

a "shutdown center" is nice, but this team has some pretty large needs... a top 4 d man and a goalie that doesn't blow being among them.

the obvious thought is that kruger can eventually fill bollands role. that's clearly not a lock, but if that move brings in a great defender that can play 22 worry free minutes- the risk is worth it in my opinion.

One more thing to consider- this team has enough pests.

Break his game down and Bolland is a pest. He's one of the top pests in the league, but that's really what his game boils down to.

-He's not an offensive beast- he's never cracked 20 goals even when playing a full year between Havlat and Ladd.

-He's not particularly good at faceoffs- he hasn't cracked 50% for a season.

He's at his best when he's pissing the shit out of stars like the Sedins and Joe Thornton. I'm not taking that away from him.

But this team just re-upped Dan Carcillo and more importantly- Andrew Shaw has emerged as a legitimate 3rd line agitator with a nose for the net. Shaw is also younger and cheaper and so far doesn't have the injury history that Bolland has.

I'm fine with moving Bolland for some legitimate skilled size on defense or up front.

Not to mention he's pretty pricey for a third-liner. Theres no way you would get equal skill in return.

Let's use Bolland as trade bait and get a top line center and let Toews take the shut down role

Im with joe on this one...

Toews top line
trade for 2nd line center
kruger on third
fa 4th line center

I didn't mean to quote him on that. I think a #3 center making 3.3+ mil definitely hurts cap wise. Toews can easily be matched up with top line and shut down guys. Especially if he is on a line with Hossa and sharp. Get a scoring center for Kane

hoss and kane work too well together

Sharp-Toews-Carcillo
Kane-Trade C-Hossa
Shaw-Kruger-Stalberg
Bollig-FA-Bickell (Yuck)

Kruger actually goes to the net as does Shaw. They had better hope whomever it is they trade for is guy with net presence, or we'll be in the same boat as we've been. Not that Kruger finishes when he goes there, but those two together might be redundant and their courage needed elsewhere.
