Surely they can wait until Friday at the earliest. What's 3 more days to keep him for another year?

Alcantara can hold the fort down, and I'll bet in a pinch that they would lean on Castillo to play third if needed.

Believe he was signed as that and I read some where they were working him there.

@Cubs: #Cubs placed INF Tommy La Stella on the 15-day DL (retroactive to 4/9) w/ right rib cage inflammation; recalled LHP Zac Rosscup from Iowa.

Have to think Bryant will be up Friday which will be the 13th day...

Their short on the bench with La Stella on DL and Olt hurting and they bring up a pitcher over another bat which tells you their not gonna press and bring up bryant a couple days short of that extra year and there no way they could justify bringing up another bat over bryant now so they brought up a reliever and hope to get through these next 2 games with the short bench..

Might be a different story if they weren't 4-2. Good start bought them the time they needed.....would be kinda stupid to bring him up early now. If they were 1-5, Theo might have looked to stop the bleeding.

Arrieta just pumped them out in the first. He looked crisp. Hitting 95 on the gun.

It's not like the Cubs are getting a whole lot of breaks with the injuries early on. The good news is that it ends any speculation most likely that Bryant would stay down any longer than the minimum, and no one can question bringing him up right away.

I love watching Arrieta pitch more than any Cubs starter since Wood's rookie year. His breaking stuff is just sick, and moves a lot like Wood's used to.

Arrieta is uh.... man he rules. More and more every day, that trade with the Orioles is an absolute heist.

15 starts of Scott Feldman and 100 ABs of Steve Clevenger for Strop and Arrieta, both who won't be free agents until 2018.

LOL, anyone else get banned from the Sox forum? Unbelievable, they make a smacktalk beatdown thread, but apparently, it's not OK to talk smacktalk in. :dunno: I hadn't even posted there in a while. :smh:

I actually was going over there to compliment the Sox on stringing some good games together.

Heard through the grapevine that Jake Arrieta's wiener touches the water when he poops.

I find it surprising, that's all. Maybe they figured that they could actually sustain a real forum with actual traffic after some Cubs fans got it going for them. :dunno:

Both starters looking sharp in the early goings.
