Am I the only one who would rather see Lake .230 6 15 numbers playing against RH pitching over Sweeney .200 0 6 ?

You are not. He should be in there every day. I have no clue why he isn't.

Because he isn't very good? Just playing him isn't likely to result in him magically having a clue at the plate. He is fun player to watch when he makes contact, but he has been exposed so far. I would love for the light to go on with Junior Lake, but more than likely he is just a toolsy guy that ought to be put in spots that likely result in his success.

Rizzo has taken big steps this year. I had my doubts, but he has changed a good bit of them.

I dont disagree with you.. its just id rather see him in the lineup over Sweeney, Sweeney provides absolutely nothing. . at least with Lake there a chance he could help spark the offense

He's still the Cubs' 2nd best OFer on this team. This is a perfect year to let him try to develop. He has a potential future on this team. I don't really see that any of the other OFers on this team do.

Sweeney has played poorly this year so far, but he is likely around for a while. He isn't as bad as he has shown so far this year. I don't mind him getting some playing time to find his groove. I do agree that he is over using him with the amount of playing time, but it isn't like he is sittiing down some elite guy to get playing time.

No the only potential he has on the team is if he suddenly develops the ability to not swing at everything. He doesn't have the bat to ball contact ability Castro has to get away with that. Until he does that he is at best a useful bench guy.

probably hoping he gets hot at some point so they could use him in a deal, he actually someone they could wave in Aug. and if not picked up they could move in a waiver deal...

im sure one way or other we dont see much of sweeney after trade deadline passes...

Here are the OFs on the 40 man roster that the Cubs have control of past this year:
Ryan Sweeney
Justin Ruggiano
Junior Lake
Chris Coghlan
Ryan Kalish
Brett Jackson
Josh Vitters
Matt Szczur
Jorge Soler

I wouldn't be surprised if Sweeney was on the 2015 Cubs.

they only have 30 mil tied into payroll next year, they can more then afford to go out and sign a couple of decent FA outfielders that are better then that garbage... along with possibly having Alcantara playing CF

They can. But doesn't mean that they will. We will see, but I highly doubt we will acquire enough quality OFs to make DFAing Sweeney likely.

I think that Sammy Sosa is a great player to look at when you think about Junior Lake. If he ends up being Sammy Sosa, I'll shit my pants. That's a longshot. But Sosa struggled mightily in his first 1000ish PAs. I think that the only way that you're going to get Junior Lake to get better is to give him ABs to try to work through the problems. I feel the same way about Mike Olt. They are not going to get better by sitting on the bench. They are going to get better with consistent ABs. If that happens here or in AAA, I don't care. But they are not going to better us by sitting on the bench.

I will take my chances in Junior Lake not being Sammy Sosa. I don't think there was much value in Lake facing a guy like Simon tonight who would have dominated him. And the notion that Olt and Lake isn't getting consistent playing time is crazy since they are both in the top 8 Cubs in plate appearances.

Heard on the game yesterday the cubs are the worst in the majors in 2 run games.... tonight sort of showing that.... What concerns me is they appear to have no urgency whatsoever to have Bryant and Baez in the majors which means you're likely looking at July next year before you see them.... on a team that can't hit. There's also very little in terms of hitters that will be FA's so I really am not seeing where they are going to get hitting next year.
