I was fired up seeing the schedule, until I saw Richard and Beeler starting in the first three games of this stretch. Let's win this one.
Richard did better then expected. .

What killing them tonight is what been beating them the last month or so..

2 for 12 with RISP
9 men LOB

Thinking it would of heen smarter to ease Soriano into a game , not a 1 run game after being out a year..

Reds has let us stay in this game multiple times. Im think Bryant better stay quiet and let Chapman velocity send one out.

Yeah, Richard didn't do terrible. But as expected, he gave up runs AND put the bullpen out there too long.

But the walk by Grimm is the most aggravating thing from the pitchers tonight.

Nice work getting out of the 7th and 8th, but once you're alredy down and Chapman is available. look out. But we got around to some hitters again.

Glad our big bats got to bat again. But we will need to bang out a run, most likely. And after escaping the last two innings, I think we just might.

Bryant has missed pitches I have seen him crush for the better part of a month. Maybe thinking to much.

Game! Cubs scored 4 but that seems so little compared to their chances. Solar the only one to come up with a big hit. Rizzo had a bad night.

Yes., seems like he getting under everything for mile high fly outs...

This game sucked. . Men LOB and giving up 3 gopher balls did them in...

I'm a little late but I am impressed by Soriano keeping his cool and ending the inning without a run. It looked bad there for a bit and he could have easily shut down. That experience is going to be an asset moving forward

Chapman allegedly on the trading block.

Some team - hopefully in the AL - is going to be really tough late in games.

Richard did fine tonight. That was to much hate on him.

He throws meat with little movement, and has to be perfect or he will get torched.

It will be hard for the Cubs to ever string 5 in a row with him in the rotation.

I could see the Royals adding him to their pen of awesomeness.

Actually I watched the entire game and didn't think that it sucked. It was frustrating to be sure, and the loss stings, but I like the offensive approach that they've been taking lately and guys like Russell, Fowler and Soler are definitely seeing the ball better. Fowlers OBP since the break is outstanding and we should remember that this his career OBP is .361 so he's clearly regressing to the mean here. He's up to .321 after being at about .300 before the break. This is extremely good news. Soler looks much better, although still susceptible to balls in the dirt for some reason he's not swinging at those outside breaking balls nearly as much. Russell looks better too. If these three guys become solid productive players at the plate it's going to be huge for this team so I'm far more inclined to be encouraged by what I saw last night, although again frustrated by the loss, than discouraged.

Maddon yanked him after 70 pitches. Maddon was just playing the odds.

Don't put that on any pitcher. That was a manager decision that did not work out.

Grimm said he did not go with his strengths when he pitched. He pitched more to what scouting reports were saying. He got burnt for it.

So he learned something.

Just a game. I did not expect a win here but Richard left with the lead and that was better than leaving after getting shelled.

Back at them

Thenshouldn't Maddon have brought in a guy whose strengths match up with the scouting report?
