re: this it was apparently $750k which seems like chump change but keep in mind the cubs signed Richard Gallardo who most view as the best pitcher of the previous class for $1 mil. Could really make the cubs july signings a bit more spicy

I know they are already apparently signing a C from Venezuela Ronnier Quintero. These deals are handshake until july but the deal is almost certainly done. they are also supposed to sign a SS from Colombia Kevin Made.

I would agree if they were crushing it. The sample is flying true.
But even I doubt a 23 will end up the final. I'll buy 80. 20% below MLB avg. But at that cost the D covers it. Heyward should be a 130 wRC+ with plus D to cover his bill.

He was then drafted by the Chicago Cubsin the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft and signed.[2]
He made his professional debut that season with the AZL Cubs and was promoted to the Boise Hawksafter one game. In 13 relief appearances for Boise he compiled a 2-0 record and 2.03 ERA. Godley spent 2014 with the Kane County Cougars and Daytona Cubs, pitching to a combined 4-3 record and 3.09 ERA in 55.1 relief innings pitched.
On December 9, 2014, Godley, along with Jeferson Mejia, was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Miguel Montero.[3]

I'll save you the surprise. They will. It's effectively a $10.5 mil decision because it's $11.5 or the $1 mil buyout. You're not going to find a 5th starter via FA for less than that and when pitching well Q is way better than a FA 5th starter.
