Russell needed to put that ball in play. Rough to be a rookie against Bum.

Remember what was discussed before this series started....Cubs needed one game, they got the one. That kept the Giants from gaining no more than one game in this series. Would've been nice to grab last nights game which was very winable but sometimes Maddon's mad scientist experiments come back and bite him in the ass...it's been working for the most part but last night's game was a fail.

43 pitches thru 2 IP.

He may have struck out 6 batters already - but that just means we'll get to the bullpen earlier.

The only question that Haren is the answer to is..."who should retire from MLB?" I know he didn't cost the Cubs much but whatever it amounted to...they overpaid. Might as well get a kid from the system up here and get used to pitching in the major leagues. I doubt anyone in their system would do any worse than this guy.

I can't believe I'm saying this but they probably should go back to Clayton Richard. Or do you Pierce Johnson a shot?

I would give Johnson a shot. The Cubs are mainly winning with the top three anyways, and Hendricks generally keeps them in games.

Right now, you don't like the day that Haren takes the mound.

LOL, I'm not believing you're saying it either. He's basically another punching bag that might get you an inning or two in middle relief...if I recall the only decent starts he had was where teams were hitting him pretty hard but right at Cub defenders. He's probably better than Haren but not by much besides what do you gain pitching a guy who won't even be here next season. Let a kid have a shot....you never know what you may find.

Man, Haren fucking sucks. I thought he'd at least be a solid #5 that could keep them in games, but holy crap. Him and Hunter aren't helping the team at all.

Taking 2/3 from LA is necessary

Why is it necessary?

Would it be great? Yes.

Taking one is where you start. Just avoid long losing streaks and they will be fine.

The Cardinals play the Giants next, and they don't have to face Bumgarner.

Then the Giants travel to LA for a showdown with the Dodgers.

The Cubs are fine. Like I said. Just avoid being swept in any series.

OK, it's not quite "necessary" but it would be really nice and a confidence boost. I don't think it necessarily takes a full on collapse for the Cubs to be knocked out. Win 1/3 enough times while the Giants and Dodgers win 2/3 enough times and it could be a slow burn to a disappointing ending
