Martinez has a track record of being a very good hitter. He is better than bote unless bote gets much better than he's ever been

0 for is not a great showing. Seems like to me he is still a true Redbird. Call me when he decides to be a Cub.

To bad that they added 3 downgrades to Bote. Might as well leave Bote at 3B and let Bryant and Schwarber switch on LF and DH to keep them healthy. Horner is enough as a UI.
So....Schwarber is playing great, and we're going to split his time so Bote can play more? Why on earth would we want that?

Are you seriously judging a sample size of less than two full games?

Call me bias. Happened in 2008 with a certain redbird that won respect by diving to make catches.

Until then a dirty bird is a dirty bird.

Rather they would have made Bryant DH today. As far as Schwarber goes he is not returning from injury. A day off is fine.

Odd. I always lost respect for the guy who pretended he had to dive to make routine catches.

But we're talking Martinez now, so no catches are routine. Hopefully he didn't pack a glove.

But give him more than six or seven at bats before you give up on him.

Na it shows heart. He was doing it into his late 30's and that tells me that he wanted to win more than look pretty.

Giving up dictates first having belief. He has not earned that yet.

Again I am 100% bias here. He starts to take part of winning then sure. Until then those PA's should be used for Bryant/Schwarber/Contreras. (Caritini lost his right). I would even accept giving them to Kip so Nico can get full time PA's this year.

Happ 178
Heyward: 157
Schwarber: 121
Rizzo 119
Kipnis: 115
Bote: 105
Souza: 91
Contreras: 81
Caratini: 79
Bryant: 64
Hoerner: 60
Baez: 59

Now there are some reasons to give PA's to low production. Like Baez as in he has a top 5 glove in a D premium spot and any swing can go out.

Bote plays plus D and is giving league avg O

Contreras is off but is a solid back stop in a D first spot.

Bryant has been injured and has the track record.

But in general anyone over 100 should be getting the lion share. The season is too short to screw around.

I liked that Adam pitchers throw to second on the double play attempt. He threw it like 10 feet to the right of the bag and 15 feet past it. They have a few guys im not sure why they are on the roster

They have a DH on Sat. Most likely they will go Rae and Miller or Alozay

That way Alozay only gets 1 day of service time. They are maniplating right now and using the frequent DH to do so.

That call up was a joke but it freed up Rae for Sat.
