Pinch hitting a singles hitting with bases empty and nobody out.

Seems like the "book move" to not bat the pitcher, but who pitches the bottom? Strop?

You post why Joe mixes up lineups, and rest guys. Then you point to his ABs and blame him. He went on the 10 day DL this season. And once last year. Good lord, could you twist it any more than you have?

He kept Fowler/Bryant/Rizzo/Zobrist/Russell stable because the were producing in 2016. When he made adjustments is was at lower impact spots.

Ever sense Fowler left the lead off ineffectiveness has caused instability in the line up. Now he is tossing slumping players up there to jump start them.

A stable situation creates stability.

A unstable situation creates instability.

Simple as that.

Yes, I know.

I was referring to the implication that Zobrist had only 65 ABs due to injury alone.

Is it wrong of me to hope their only remaining catcher takes one in the nut sack? :)

Happ needs a break in AAA, he's swinging a garden hose at the plate.

Man. This team looks like it doesn't even care at the plate..like they can't wait to jog back to the dugout. Bryant and Rizzo are one of the worst hitting combos in the league...Ian Crapp needs to play in the Frontier League in Sheboygan or something...and Heyward? My gawd. I'm so sick of hearing how he's gonna come around. It's been 3 years now. Give it up. This lineup...in reality...has a lot of holes. They win (WHEN they win) with good defense and pitching.

Let's see. The odds of Heyward hitting a ground ball to 2nd are at least 90%.

I'll take it Baez, now we need 3 out of Farrell.

Not much choice here. The shaky Farrell...fresh off giving up a walk off yesterday...or the ALWAYS shaky in St. Louis Strop.

Should have won 2 of 3 and lost them all.

4 game swing in two days.

Cards fans never stop crapping on Fowler, but he is their best clutch hitter and it is not even close.

Heyward almost saved us. Farrell really isn't that good though, we can't find one body that's better in the pen?

"That makes a loser out of Luke Farrell"- Pat Hughes.

Yeah....appropriate description.

Outside of Farrell our bullpen pitched well. Went to a tune of 8.1 innings, 4 hits, 4 walks, 9 k's, and 2 runs. That's including that triple that should've been an error on Heyward.

Bad throw by Baez set it up.

Eh, that was a tough play, his leg actually was giving out as he threw it, which is pretty amazing he put so much on it. Farrell had some lackluster control the whole inning though.
