Hendricks vs. Scherzer in game 1

This will be the last series against Washington all season. Lets get 2 of 3. Nationals are playing really good ball, so need to bring our best. Will we pitch to Harper? Im sure this will be talked about all series.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest Hendricks gives up fewer runs than Mad Max. I don't have any real reason for this but it seems like whenever Hendricks gets matched up against TOR pitchers he usually comes out ahead. He beat Grienke earlier this year. He beat Jordan Zimmermann twice last year.

Oh, let's see. Scherzer only struck out 20 in one game recently. I'll just enjoy the game instead of making a legend out of the Professor before the game.

Well I did say it was a baseless reason for believing it.

Eh, Hendricks has a pretty big split with home and away stats. He is over 4 for his career and is the same this year away from Wrigley. But, he has also been better at night during his tenure.

Scherzer has been better on the road than at home for the past two years. He also has a massive split for lefties and righties. Righties batting sub .150's. Lefties hitting .278. I would expect our heavy left handed lineup.

I would expect a lineup like this

Fowler
Heyward
Bryant
Rizzo
Zobrist
Cogs
Montero
Russell
Hendricks.

If the Cubs can somehow get 2/3 from this series, I'll be impressed.

So would I. Washington has their two best starters going in this series.....the Cubs do not.

So over under 10 walks for Harper in this series?

Cubs already got to Scherzer once this season but this game is in Washington. I think Cubs win Lackey's start on Tuesday. If they can somehow get one from Max or Strausburg, I'd be happy.

I would pick the Nationals tonight and in the series.

Just running into each other at a good time for nats, bad time for cubs.

Werth is waking up, which makes walking Harper costly, and Murphy too. Didn't Madden start that trend this year?

I'm disturbed this is the last series between these two, something tells me they are destined to meet in the NL Championship.

All they need is an ex steroid user and they will really be unstoppable

I wouldn't be surprised if they already have one, like most teams probably do.
Just wasn't caught.

Didnt know betances and miller used steroids

And the one that was caught..

11 saves 1.93 ERA 1.00 Whip 14 IP 21 Ks

Youd be a lying fool if you say you wouldn't be excited if the Cubs got him ...

Id say in their order of interest in these relievers would be.

Betances
Miller
Chapman

I think Eovaldi would be right there with Betances if they choose to add a starter and make it a blockbuster deal.

Scherzer looking sharp in the first. Heyward is probably going to have a rough day with him. Heyward does not like big fastballs.

Scherzer got that high adrenaline going early .
Hopefully Hendricks can match the zeros until hitters can hopefully catch up to Scherzer
