I will say...i don't know if there could be a worse gut punch loss than this. I guess that's the bright side. I guess if the Cards or Brewers did it to us...but this is as bad as it can get.

Happ provided a little offensive spark. Just enough to earn too much playing time.

Darvish and Quintana are pitching as well as we can hope for.

And we can't win.

Cards trailed 2-0 in 9th and got tying run to 2nd. I would have barfed if we got the double nut shot.

His best pitcher was pulled when he could have pitched another inning.
His second best pitcher of the night was pulled because his IF's can't field.
His worst pitcher when it comes to coming in with men on, was summoned.
His worst pitcher on the entire staff was then summoned.

When, exactly, did he use his best pitchers properly?
So, who should he have brought in and what situation? Kyle Ryan was pulled early because he was all over the place. Rowan Wick has been used and had to pull him. Brought in Strop that hit a guy on 1-2 then brought in Holland who is a lefty specialist and Harper is 0-2 against. Im curious on who you thought it should have brought in with our closer and high leverage pitcher out?

The real question is this...would the Cubs have lost this game if Kimbrel was pitching in the 9th inning?! I doubt they would have lost..injuries suck! :(

How much do season tickets cost for you guys?

Enough that when our owners say "We are broke" during a FA period that had Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, it makes you mad.

Well....he pulled Yu and Wick when he didn't need to.

I realize the pen is short handed, but this happens when it is not.

If a pitcher retires the first two he faces on weak ground balls, Joe pulls him for a lefty-lefty or righty-righty matchup, at 5-0 or 4-1 or whatever.

You don't need to switch out relievers when they are retiring men in a game that is not close. But he does constantly.

Some days, just let a guy finish an inning.

Tonight he pulled two effective pitchers.

Do you blame the owner? Last off seasons Theo wasted his money so badly on busts. It's easy to criticize the ownership since it's not our money but say it was your money, im sure you'd be pissed.

We would not have won if he induced ground balls to Bote and Happless.

I've bitten my tongue ever since I advocated for trading Baez cause, well maybe I don't know shite about MLB.

But, I think tonight was a pivotal loss. I think this one may have lasting effects.

Even before this season I had Marmol-level PTSD whenever Strop took the mound, and yeah blah blah his stats/metrics the past years are fine but I trust my eyes above all else: he sucks liquid ass when even an iota of pressure or leverage is involved, **** him and **** Joe for not knowing better.

Tonight further cements what's it's like to be a lifelong Cubs fan. It does not change my fandom, only further reinforces the battered-fan syndrome.

Getting mad in baseball doesn't ever work unfortunately. Although it might get you to give that little bit of extra effort on those ground balls Happ missed. But Holland needs to be DFA'd. Pointless to keep him.

Before tonight I thought they would win the division but now I dont know if they can make the playoffs.

Theyve been playing like this on the road since late May! If they would have shook this off it should have already happened.

The home record is great but how long is that going to last. When will their luck run out at home?

There is no excuse not taking 2/3 in the next series vs Pitt.

Yes, I do.

Theo deserves blame too. But you can't tell me Theo went into an offseason meeting and said, Boy Bryce Harper or Manny Macahdo are just too expensive for us. Nope. HE went in and wanted them but the ownership wouldn't sign off. Then they have enough nerve to say "We are broke" to the public.

**** outta here with that. When you have a window like this, you go for it. You don't hold back. I'm sure they are living comfortable with that money and that's before the TV money kicks in.

As for Theo. I blame not addressing these holes (Bullpen, 2nd base, leadoff) on him.

Bro, the battered fan cub syndrome should have ended after 2016. But I was thinking the same thing in the bot of the 9th tonight. All my life this team/organization always seems to fall into situations like this. They killed off the lovable losers culture in 2016, but that 'lets not make this easy' still hangs around this organization for decades.

I like what you said about stats/metrics. All these stats guys can throw all the numbers around they want, but it boils down to trusting what you see!

I think you're my favorite poster here I've discovered :)

I was just interested because I pay £515 for a home season ticket for the soccer team I support (QPR) and we have 23 home games

Maybe they are broke. They have so many projects like the Hotel and all the other stuff their doing outside the ballpark they may be in debt right now. We don't know the real #'s but something happened this past offseason where Ricketts told Theo to **** off.

That's what I'm saying though. The Ricketts said no. Could signing Darvish, Chatwood, Heyward been a part of that? Maybe. But I don't think they are broke. If they are, then that's bad money management. I don't see how you can say "we are broke" and not go for it in this window. This window is pretty much closing and will be closed after 2020.
