ESPN talked about how Lester can't throw the whole 1st inning lol

But when he was in Boston the only thing they would talk about is his pinpoint accuracy and quality starts. He becomes a Cubs player and all of a sudden they can only talk about his lack of throwing to first

FWIW, the Braves came all the way back from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Giants in 12 innings.

Thank you AJ Pierzinski for sending it to extras. :smug2:

EDIT: Sorry Chicubs55. Didn't see your post.

This is the kind of shit that needs to be cleaned up. Soler acts like Mr. Cocky out there but the reality is that he gets just terrible jumps on fly balls and someone needs to work with him. Given his arm strength, rightfield is the right spot for him but he really needs work.

That is exactly my point about upgrading to get someone like Heyward, and using Soler as trade bait, especially with his marginal contract.

Heyward is light years ahead of Soler in every facet of the game.

That is definitely an area they could clean up for just money.

I think the Cubs are going to have to trade to get someone out there to man CF via trade. I don't see much on the free agent front, with Span being injured more than ever, and I am not sure extending Fowler is the way to go either.

Might also be worth a shot to explore an in-house player to go out there and learn a new position.

Damn it Almora.

Just saw Giants schedule for August. .
Everyone they play is over .500

Cubs take care of business, they should be heading into September in a playoff spot

Aramis Ramirez might be the most underrated player of the past ten years

Absolutely, he is the hall of very good. Shame Cubs fans never appreciated him. I remember people blaming him cause he wouldn't hit .330 the whole season. Solid defender. Plus bat and came to work everyday. By far, the best Cubs third baseman since Santo and got little respect.

I actually liked him better than D-Lee as far as an offensive producer.

People thought I was crazy, but he was the most consistent RBI guy to me back then, and had a low strikeout rate for a power hitter.

He also worked damned hard to hone his skills as a defensive man.

I didn't know Cub fans didn't appreciate him. Every fan I know certainly did. Good D, RBI guy consistently. Got us to playoffs. Loved the guy.

Well Baez went 3 for 6 with 3 RBI's in a comeback win.

Hitting .318

I still think they should test him in CF.

Fans didn't like that he heated up with the weather. Like around June that he would get out of his slump. By then the Cubs were behind the pack playing catch up.

That is why you build a line up that is deep. Players go through hot/cold times. It is depth that lets it impact less.

Slow starter. Got all his numbers after the Cubs were out of contention. That's what I remember the talk being.

I think it has to get into the bottom of the 5th to continue at a later date. I think this one is erased from the books and they will start fresh?
Right.. it wasnt an official game, so it starts over at a later date

Probably a DH next time their in Pittsburgh

Probably a double header on September 15th or a game on the 14th if us and PIT share that off day

D-Lee was very inconsistent and his stats prove it. Aram was one of the most underrated players during his prime. The guy is someone you want in the box during a clutch situation. Remember when we were facing the Giants' Time Lincecum and were down 1-0 in the bottom of the 8th with 2 men on an 2 outs? Aram smacked a 2 strike pitch off the ivy for a double and we won

Yes, it was the slow starter stuff. It was mind boggling because he did it every year and people always thought magically that was going to stop. Then, he would get scolding hot and carry the team but people would say that he isn't a winner because he would start off slow. It was crazy.
