The thing is they are trying to up Schierholtz's trade value vs looking at it as a 1 year wonder and going with a OBA player in RF. A big reason why I hate the way this team is being run. They play for the trade deadline vs winning games. IE: Built to sell off

If it is me I would put Schierholtz in vs LH pitching as he has hit them better and Kalish in for the bulk of the time. Valbuena and Barney at 2B for now.

Ideally you would want more talent out there. Arismendy Alcantara is at .261/.279/.448. I don't see him putting up better production than Valbuena right now.

A better option would be Logan Watkins .295/.386/.386 He got beat up last year in Iowa but looks to have pushed past the learning curve this year. I'd bet Alcantara is in that process right now. Might be wise to give him extra time there. Watkins is a prototypical #2 hitter/sub. He has covered SS/2B/CF for Iowa this year. Takes walks a solid bench player like Bonifacio.

Baez has been over matched by the pitching. Seeing how most of the pitching in AAA is MLB quality and it is only going to get worse in the bigs he needs to make improvements before any one thinks him being promoted.

They are playing to win games when they are in contention. getting the most in trades is a key to building for the future. I don't give a crap if they win one more game THIS year instead of trading a guy with no future for a prospect who can actually help.

In other news, Castro is now 62nd all-time on Cubs hit list with 738.

I would bet a good chunk of change Castro finishes his career with a **** load of hits. He has age and durability on his side.
