You mean on a pitch he should have taken like Soler or Bryant ? Not a thing.

Lol ok. I still dont think you have a point. It was a simple statement that wasnt incorrect. I know you like Soler. I like him too. It still has nothing to do with my statement. Oh, and tell Vlad Guerroro when he should have swung.

This is the reason why you do not give Jake a mega. A guy making that cash the catcher should not be a major factor in his results.

People laugh but I would have traded him. Could have replenished our farm system in one trade.

I don't trust Jake.

Jake is simply suffering from comparison. If anyone really expected him to duplicate last year, then they don't know the game. What he's doing now, other than the walks...is who he is. I think SilenceS is correct....he's just trying to be too cute. Last year, he had opponents chasing everything...this year they know the book on him and are waiting him out more. He needs to adjust some, trust his stuff a bit more.

He had a big lead. Cubs have a top defense. Stop walking people and challenge the hitters. Simple.

Absolutely agree. Thats why I said he was getting to cute. He was trying to be perfect. His movement doesnt allow for hard contact much, but he doesnt trust it like last year. I think its more a mental/confidence thing or anything mechanical or physical.

They broke it down on post game show
Showing how in the first 2 innings he kept ball down and was getting groundballs, which is more his game. But in the 3rd he was getting the ball up some which resulted in flyballs..
They said that seemed to get him out off and he couldn't get a rhythm after that.
He kept missing his spots

Parade....earlier you were commenting on Szczur. The first time I saw him this year, I thought he had changed something in his hitting. He seemed to have cut down his swing where everything is real compact now. It reminded me of how Bill Madlock hit. I don't know if you ever saw him but he was one of my favorites.

What you have to know about young MLBers, if you don't already, is that it's possible for them to get through to AAA on athleticism only. Once you get to the Show, the only way you stay is to have a real hit tool. Most guys don't get it, but you have to tie the hands to the body rotation, get the barrel flat early and get sat behind the front foot to swing slightly up. I'm talking base swing here, not crazy adjustments. When Szczur first came up, he swung downward into the ball and essentially took his hands in a straight path to the ball. Last season, he showed up for spring swinging up, hence why he had a lot of bombs in ST. He still hadn't quite gotten the hang of tying his hands to rotation and flattening the barrel early enough though. This season he showed up even more improved with that "compact" swing you observed. It's exciting to see young players figure things out and over the past few years I've watched Matt, I believe he has made significant improvements that can make him a quality every day MLBer.

And yes. I remember Bill Madlock. One of my favorites back then.

Makes sense....makes even more sense when you watch Heyward. Now I get why you think he needs to lower his hands. With the body God graced him with, he should be generating the kind of leverage that Bryant does. He should be at the very least a 25 HR guy annually....but beating the ball into the ground isn't going to make that happen.

Man, the Brewers suck balls.

Can it be October already? Although the best part of the next 6 weeks is watching Rizzo, Bryant and Addison Jeter pad their stats. Russell might get 100 RBI's. And Rizzo and Bryant will have monster stats. Bryant could get 40 HR's and 120 RBI's.

More than HRs, Kris Bryant is now within striking distance of Trout for leading MLB in fWAR, 6.3 to 6.9. At his current pace he should end up around 8.5 fWAR on the season (last year Harper led with 9.5).

Heyward just looks very simple to fix, forget that pumping shit, just keep your hands still at the level you usually load up at. He is up and down a half dozen times, so he not only has to get the strike of the ball part right, he has to stop the hand pump at the right time too. It reminds me of Soriano hopping to catch the ball.
