Anyone know why Chatwood is having a lot more success coming out of the pen compared to when he was starting?

He was due for a bounce back. Also, less pressure probably helped him refocus

If I recall correctly, Chatwood had said back in ST that it was a release point problem and that he felt he had fixed it. That was prior to any change between starting and coming out of the pen. Makes it sound as though coming out of the pen has little to do with it, but who knows? It may a combination, as he doesn't start a game thinking about "how many innings"?

Should the cubs consider at least temporarily replacing Darvish in the rotation with Chatwood or do you prefer keeping Tyler as the long man/swing starter?

De-motivate a guy with a massive, multi-year contract that we are depending on. Great strategy.

No, Chatwood is valuable right now. Darvish is still valuable. You pull Darvish. He has absolutely zero value. Darvish was a proven TOR starter. Chatwood has always just had potential. Darvish stuff is there. Its location. Thats fixable.

I agree that you don't make this change.

Darvish has to figure it out. Benching him offers you no hope of that happening. As frustrated as I might be when he does start and pitch poorly, I know we have to hope it gets better rather than give up.

And while I just posted that I don't think it's the pen that fixed Chatwood's control, I also don't want to move him from a spot where he is having success. We are without two key pen pieces right now, so moving Chatwood from the pen only makes it worse.

strike zone was terrible, but I actually think that favored us. I felt like the zone was at least consistent. It was called both ways.

Had commitments yesterday, so it's not for me to say as I only saw the first three innings.....I will say for three innings at least, Davies was loving it.

ESPN crew tells a story of Moustakas' mom convincing him to play baseball instead of nasketball, and ARod jumps in with "my mom convinced me to play baseball, not basketball".

Umm, OK. Thanks ego-boy. Did you not catch that we were discussing one of tonight's players? Thanks for trying to hog the spotlight, you dick.

I can't stand the ESPN crew
Since this is ESPN, I fully expect them to break in with NBA talk. This might literally be the only time slot all week in which they discuss baseball for more than 30 seconds at a time.
