What a defensive lineup, Nick the stick, Almora, Heyward, Bryant, Baez, Bote/Kemp, Rizzo, and catching Kyle fucking Schwarber.

OK, boys. Stop pulling Rizzo off the bag.

Let's wrap this up.

"We feel really good about Taylor," Hoyer said on Wednesday. "There are some off-roster moves you can try to make, but in general, yeah, we feel good about that. Taylor's been really solid for us and he's done a good job when he's come up here and we feel good about him there."

So I'm wondering if Amaya was the off 40 man thought. Bring him up to get exposure and catch some BP with the major league players. Then have Schwarber be the oh shit guy as he is getting upto speed.

But Tayler is the safe bet. Amaya would be a exposure situation.

When they bring up Taylor, they have yet another player on the roster who is practically an automatic out. His weird little, "loop the wrists" swing is the worst I have ever seen. And it isn't like he's a great defensive catcher. Any other option would be preferable IMO.

The difference between him and Maldanado is negligible. Davis is a good defensive catcher with a weak stick, but handles staffs well. Neither have a good stick. Maldy may be better defensive, but it isnt a wide margin. Caratini will get the majority of the starts and lets hope Willy hamstring is minor and can be back in a month.

Maldonado was near top in framing. I wouldn’t call the difference negligible but IF Joe plays it right, Davis should start once a week. Tops.

Think I would prefer Amaya catching sides and BP. Let Caratini catch every day. He doesn't play every day so he should be fresh for a extended run.

But if anything happens Amaya is a strong D skilled catcher and having that exposure will benefit him going into Tenn.

Just shit can Maples off the 40. It is time on him.

Stl got spanked. Cubs need to keep their foot on the gas and pull away.

Maldonado sucked. He didnt throw out anyone while here, his bat was a 0 and if he framed a few more strikes than other guys, woopity doo.
At least Davis doesnt suck as hard ad Maldonado at batting. He aint great but is at least better.
We should be fine.

There’s probably a reason Maldonado has had a fairly long MLB career and Davis is 29 and still in the minors. Teams clearly see value in Maldonado. Our fans really overvalue offense from a back up catcher and apparently don’t see any value in defense and the comfort zone a good backstop can give a pitching staff. In Maldonado’s couple games I saw him block a few pitches our other two guys never do. Contreras is embarrassingly bad keeping the ball in front of him and I think it effects how our pitchers attack hitters with men on 3rd.
