And on Rizzo. .403 OBA. That is a lead off hitters wet dream.

0-1 feels like it might as well be 0-10 with this team lately.

On Schwarber. Pre ASG .777 OPS. post .919. getting him out of the lead off was the right choice.

But Rizzo is a natural fighter at the plate and will choke up with 2 strikes. He has a natural lead off approach at the plate. That is why he excelled at it. It is what he is meant to do.

It led to solo HRs when he hit them, and the worst baserunner ever choking up and getting a single. Takes three more hits to get him in. Rizzo is far more valuable further down in the order.

You are so wrong here.

OBA
Rizzo .403
Bryant .379
Castellanos .373
Contreras: .365
Caratini .362
Bote .359
Zobrist .343
Heyward .338
Schwarber .322
Happ .319
Baez .316

SLG
Castellanos .689
Baez: .532
Contreras .525
Rizzo .524
Garcia .517
Bryant .516
Schwarber .499
Happ .470
Caratiti .468
Bote .435
Heyward .428
Russell .397
Almora .393

When you are .023 ahead of the next guy and he is dam good at OBA also then you are the "best" at it on the team.

As far as extra base power goes the group is closer knit.

You could also make a Bryant lead off argument. But Rizzo has a lower strike out rate.

They need a real lead off. That is all it takes. The blow up is not a thing.

Heyward produces in the 6 hole.

Schwarber has been far better out of the lead off.

Every issue steams from Joe pushing guys into failed roles.

The biggest core issue this team needs is a new manager. They do not need this musical chairs method of management. Then Theo and Jed need to attain a line up staple at lead off. Even if it means trading Bryant for Betts and extending him after.
A leadoff man doesn’t solve the lack of fundamental baseball. Good teams move guys from second to third and drive them in. Cubs never move runners along because everyone thinks they need to be the guy instead of having faith in their teammates.

Its the eye test.

Yesterdays game, a contrares grounder skips thru the hole and rolls slowly to the outfielder and Rizzo did not even consider going to third. It looked like Willson was on his way to second. I guess some people just get on their phone and look up stats to defend an argument instead of getting closer to scoring.

Just about every unorthodox guy put in the leadoff spot has hit home runs, but you try to hit them 4th and they cant anymore. Then you get numbers thrown in your face like look at all the walks they take when they need to drive in runs.

That is the situation Javy is always put in. Its amazing he can handle it.

Now it seems like Javy or Willson will end up hitting 7th.

Back to the brewers and them getting yet another day off before a cubs series to rest Hader.
