Don't take long when you deal with someone that's highly predictable. You are the classic windsock.....

My goodness, you're just not real bright guy are you? Do you realize how moronic you look by using the same lines that someone else uses? No, I guess you probably don't. Do you realize that you've been here 3 years less than me and have nearly twice as many posts...whether you deny it or not Cubs baseball is your life. But when a baseball team is pretty much your whole life....you know, I apologize. I guess I should feel sorry for you. I really should....intelligence limitations isn't something to made fun of. It's hard because you just keep asking for it. You get ripped for negativity and your solution is emoji over kill. That is just so stupid, that it's funny. Then your closing shot is a line from Star Trek....it was a pretty popular movie, do you think you were the only one to see it? In your case, maybe you do.

Just a bit of advice...there's a lot more to life than the Chicago Cubs.

I'll just leave it at that....

Today was huge.

Hendricks is, indeed, Diet Mad Dog.

GREAT performance when it mattered most. Feels great getting those Cards back to 5 games out, and Brewers loss puts them 4 out. That is much needed, as they play a lot of games at home, and we need them to lose.

Cubs in more comfortable position than Friday morning. Did what they had to do.

Pretty sure this one's over. Cubs have 14 games left. If we assume the cubs play at least .500 ball that's 7 wins. Their magic number is 11. Milwalkee would have to go 11-3 over the final 14 games they play in order to make the playoffs.

The fact there is head to head series w Milwaukee makes it a little more tenuous, but avoiding a sweep should be enough.

Let's complete the sweep of the Cards and drive the final nail in that coffin. I don't want Milwaukee within 3 when we face them. Or at any point from here on out.

.253/./343/.547 .889 OPS .372 wOBA 129 wRC+ since coming back from AAA on7/6. Not awful.

Yeah, great. Im really happy the guy excels when they're either up 15-2 or down 11-0. He had a nice performance a few days ago, but those days are rare in comparison to 3 to 4 SO's per game.

I have no problem admitting when someone is doing well after talking the sheet. Hell, I'd love for the guy to go on a tear. Like I said before, I don't follow the stats I just watch the games. He's been awful. His ass should be on the bench is favor of Almora.

Doesn't have to be either Schwarber or Almora. Question is who you play and when. Happ is hitting .251/.325/.509 with a 9.3%/31.6% bb/k rate and .257 ISO. Since june Schwarber is .241/.339/.542 with a 12.1%/32.3% bb/k rate and .301 ISO. The choice to play Schwarber isn't a choice of Almora or Schwarber. It's a choice of how those two plus Happ and Zobrist factor in.

I'm as big a proponent of Almora as anyone. But the facts are you have two guys who are switch hitters in Happ and Zobrist and two guys in Schwarber and Almora who presently have pronounced splits. You can easily play the match ups. It's a bit tricker with Russell presumably back at SS going forward but Zobrist/Happ in LF and Almora in CF vs LHP makes sense. Schwarber/Zobrist in LF and Happ in CF vs RHP presently makes sense.

And the thing is that joe is going to be proactive. If the cubs get a lead he's pulling Schwarber/whomever and playing Almora for defense. Honestly, I'd like to give Baez a few nights off vs tough pitching. Baez is another guy with huge splits. He hits .248/.294/.432 vs RHP and .325/.360/.607 vs LHP this year. You could realistically roll out a line up of Zobrist in 2B, Schwarber in LF and Happ in CF vs tough right hand pitching with an eye toward Baez and Almora early if you get a lead. Vs LHP I'd play both Baez and Almora and take your pick of Zobrist or Happ in LF.

Long story short here is that you have a number of guys who are substantially better in certain situations. Play them in those situations and late game you have defense if you need it either keeping Almora/Baez in if they start or subbing them in during double switches mid game. Long term I think you are going to have to pick a guy and go with them but with ~2 months left in the season and a roster loaded with hitting talent play the guy who gives you the best odds. Platooning is a bit of a dirty word but if you get two guys who have amazing splits you can effectively glue together a superstar caliber hitter. Baez and Almora in particular DOMINATE LHP. So you find someone who's above average to pair them with vs RHP and you've effectively cloned a 4-5 win player.

I mean that's the real conversation right? There are several young players, and one old one in Zobrist, who are not complete players so you have to know when to mix and match for now.

My gut tells me in playoff Maddon gonna turn to Schwarber LF Heyward CF Zobrist RF...

Jay Happ and Almora will come off bench as PH/defense replacement

Contreras Catcher
Rizzo Baez Russell Bryant set in IF

My question is ...
LaStella Avila Rivera

Does he take all 3 for 14 position players or just 2 of 3 ..

Jose Martinez calls for the 4th replay in two days.

For the first time Cards replay it.

Martinez wrong for 4th time. :)

This thread is weird and full of anger. Not typical of this forum. They have the opportunity to break out the brooms, people!

Why would you put Avala batting behind Rizzo?
