I don't expect him to suddenly have power. And I don't need all power guys in my lineup. But his lack of power means he has to make it up elsewhere.
You just said it's what he needed to play well.
You, yourself, say we knew he didn't have a good glove.
So how then do you say he is great? No power. No glove.
Please show me just one time that I ever said he was great. Just one.
Runs? He has scored 59, and you extrapolate that to 100 in a full season, implying he has played 59% of our games. Try more like 80%.
You can't estimate totals on games played by a secondary player. You base it on AB's....full season, 600 AB's, at the pace he's going...103 runs.
On the 5th highest scoring team in MLB (and two of the top four have scored ONE more run)
He scored TWO in the recent 4 game stretch in which we scored 47, BTW. TWO players scored 4 or more in a game during that time.
If you're talking the last four games where they scored 47...one game he didn't play in, another he was a PH and he started the other two. He ended up going 4 for 10 with 3 runs scored and 3 driven in. Wow...he was just awful. In the future, you might want to get the numbers right.
You simultaneously ask me why I expect more if I knew what he was, while implying more. I don't expect more. He VERY LITERALLY is going to EXACTLY match what I predicted. THAT is the point.
I've not implied anything...just a guess that Theo didn't sign him thinking he was the next Trout. He's done what he was signed to do...to me that's a good signing.
I KNOW what he is, and I know he won't be more. And unlike many, I recognize his actual contributions, and don't somehow multiply them for no reason.
He is average. or less, by every baseball definition of the word. I just try foolishly and unsuccessfully, to get others to honestly look at his output, and see it for what it is and what it isn't.
I am not rooting against him, but I would like to see someone else get more time.
Oh, you most certainly are. Never hear from you on his good games, only when you deem him useless.
People here rip Schwarber all day long because he is below expectations, while praising jay who is AT expectations, but fail to realize Schwarber is still the guy who is more productive, even with a terrible batting average.
Well, we can agree on something. I have never ripped Schwarber, ever. He's my favorite Cub...please don't confuse my posts with Chibears55.
Taking Jay off this team would be like pulling a stick out of water. It would leave no hole whatsoever.
An opinion not shared by many. He's a secondary player, a backup and he's done a good job. He's done what has been asked of him...you can't ask for more than that.
