Feels like the cubs are living on borrowed time with this game. Cards have blown a bunch of chances
Cubs bats been sleeping most of game and it just seems like the Cards are going to break it open soon

Maybe theyll come up with some short of injury to Darvish...

He should go into the pen and promote Montgomery. Not really a arguement anymore. If Darvish excells there then we might have that closer type in house.

Just went over this thread and one thing really stands out. There is a poster who has taken over as the biggest ****** bag on this forum. No early posts when the game is closely contested....he waits till Darvish has problems then posts his BS crap....Cubs tie is up via the slam and nothing. Cubs bullpen shuts the door, more nothing. Finally, Cubs go ahead on Javy's homer and Strop quickly locks down the win.....again, nothing. Three whining, crybaby posts only when the Cubs are doing poorly.....I don't have to name names. I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about.

This goof is a real charmer.

That would be great but they've already accomplished what I was hoping for.....slow down the Cardinal express, win the series and give them something to think about.

I get you on that.

I'm disappointed with Darvish and feel safer with Chatwood in the rotation.

Now Maddon did say that Montgomery is returning really soon. This was pregame so the talk was more so about depth vs replacement.

I personally do not know what Darvish is doing wrong right now. He is a guy that has pitched at the highest level and now is flat off. So looking at the staff as a whole it has shown vast improvement over all. So this is not this group issue where it is the pitching coach. Maybe it is about Davis. But Darvish has looked like shit even before him.

So they really need to figure this out. If it is me I'm starting Montgomery and having Darvish work through it on the side.

So, my posts about Kyle Schwarber's weight don't qualify anymore? WTF.

Darvish is too talented for this to be a physical thing. it’s just mental right now. someone mentioned he doesn’t have confidence and that seems to be the case though he seemed to be in a good frame of mind in spring.

early in the game his ball was just moving all over ( in a good way) and he looked good. all of a sudden he couldn’t throw a strike.

I was ticked at him today, but it’s hard to think they need to give up on him.

No, it doesn't have to be mental. He sat out half the year with an arm injury that required surgery, and there may still be lingering physical effects even though he feels completely fine.
